About me
"To Be Me"
Being held in the suspension of an 'old story' can often be draining and exhausting, "to be there and not know why is worse". Live in a world that you create, and not one that is dictated by your past experiences. Being 'who you are' will give you the strength to reveal a powerful, connected and integrated presence to shine through.
“BE YOU”
With 21 years of post-training experience, I've worked extensively with Intercultural, Racial, and Displacement Issues, Anxiety, Stress, Addiction, Depression, Divorce, Sexual Abuse, Self-esteem, Blockages, and Patterns, Careers Advice, Deep and long-standing communication issues, Relationship issues, and many other areas, including general counselling support for Neuro-diversity issues. I have more than 10 years of experience in Clinical and Risk Assessment for Employment Assistance Programs (EAP), and offer an authentic and ethical service in my assessment process and practice.
I work Integratively using the Intercultural, Person-Centered, and Psychodynamic models, enabling me to work holistically at a deeper level with past and current problems. I work together with you to find solutions to the issues as they arise. Working with both a Brief and Focused or Longer-term approach allows 'you' the Client to decide what is best for you.
As a person of a Mixed White heritage, I have lived experience of different cultural backgrounds. Growing up with difference has given me insight into the struggles we can experience due to difference and the internal dialogue and games we can play with ourselves in order to survive in a world where we feel 'out of place' or 'harmed' by the difference we represent. I draw upon my skills and lived experience, encouraging an authentic communication between my client and myself, aiming to work at a deeper level knowing what it means to be different from the hosting Culture. This insight enables me to be open to the difficult psychological issues that arise out of being different from the culture in which you are raised and expected to live, perform and become successful.
"You are your life" and only you know the answers. In our ever-changing world, our situations can become confusing, especially when traumatic events are associated with our difference. The counselling space can be just the thing you need to resolve the concerns that are holding you back from moving in the direction you'd like to go. Trauma can be isolating, keeping us fighting, running or just simply stuck. These patterns of behaviour can play a huge part in how we are able to function, leaving us constantly challenged and exhausted.
'To Be Me Counselling Service' aims to offer a supportive space where Clients feel understood at a level where they will be able to piece together their 'jigsaw puzzle'.
My mission is to listen to the whole of you, just the way you are, and then 'enable the journey back, holistically, to the self you know yourself to be and not the one you have had to create in order to survive'.
I look forward to meeting with you.
Training, qualifications & experience
My training was an eclectic theoretical integration.
Working with what my clients bring I provide a space that is comfortable, to share all parts of themselves facilitating a complete acceptance of the self. I work with your inner processing moving through the difficulties that you have experienced and which have caused you to reach out for Therapy.
Visiting past experiences can be difficult but also supports us to move forward from them. Working with the residue of old issues can help us to recognize the internal scripts that can recreate patterns that cause our unconscious triggers and manifest symptoms of anxiety. I work with these patterns of behaviour, facilitating my clients' ability to recognize and manage the change and then the self-containment.
Everyone has insight into their way of being, everyone knows who they'd really like to be, even if they've only experienced snippets of this part. Opening this up in a non-judgmental and insightful space brings the healing needed to lay the past to rest whilst also enabling the person to better control their responses and self-agency.
The Intercultural Theory and practice pioneered by Jafar Kareem advocated, "that a person’s background and culture is fundamental to the way in which they operate in their world regardless of the culture in which they live". Knowing who you are and the origins of where you are from builds the foundational road to where you are going."
ToBeMe's mission takes on board the client's life from their perspective, the culture in which the client was raised and the culture in which the client lives plus the culture they are expected to perform within. Involving the integration of these three cultures gives you, the client, access to your full presence, and your full life skills aiding you to be seen and be at one, revealing a more holistic confident self.
Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Testimonials:
I was initially referred to Patricia through my workplace medical cover but remained a private client afterward.
From our first session, and throughout our time working together, Patricia was always warm, kind, and patient.
Patricia’s approach enabled me to really undertake deep self-reflection and become more self-aware, which has ultimately left me in a much better space and provided me with useful tools to use for life.
I fully recommend Patricia to anyone considering counselling or therapy.
