About me

                                                          "To Be Me"

Being held in the suspension of an 'old story' can often be draining and exhausting

"to be there and 'not know'.. is worse".

Live in a world that you create, and not one that is dictated by your past

With 18 years post training experience, I've worked extensively with Addiction, Depression, Divorce, Inter-Cultural issues and Racial Issues, Sexual Abuse, Self-esteem, Blockages and Patterns, Careers Advice, Deep and long standing communication issues, Relationship issues and many other areas. Having worked in Clinical and Risk Assessment for Employment Assistance Programs (EAP), for more than 10 years I am able to offer a service which is authentic and ethical in its practice.

I work with an Integrative approach including the Person Centred, Psychodynamic and Intercultural models, enabling me to work at a deeper level with past and current problems. Clients can bring what is troubling them and we work together to find the solutions to the issues as they arise. I work both Brief and Focussed or Longer-term, allowing 'you' the Client to decide what is best for you.

I have lived experience of different cultural backgrounds. Having been raised with difference, I use the skills and understanding I gained in my work.  I aim to work at a deeper level knowing what it means to be different from the hosting Culture.  Through lived experience, I have insight into the difficult psychological issues that arise out of being different from the culture in which you are raised and expected to live, perform and be successful.

"You are your life" and only you know the answers. However in our ever changing world, our situations can become confusing. The Counselling Space can be just the thing you need to resolve the concerns that are holding you back from moving in the direction you'd like to go.

'To Be Me Counselling Service' aims to enable a safe space where Clients feel understood at a level, where they will be able to piece together their 'jigsaw puzzle'.  My mission is 'to listen to the whole of you, just the way you are', and 'enable the journey back to yourself'.

I look forward to meeting with you.

Training, qualifications & experience

An eclectic training my theoretical integrations combine, Person Centred, Psychodynamic and Inter-Cultural practice.

Working with what you bring, using my skill-set to enable your process.  I work with your inner processing enabling movement through the difficulties that have brought you here.  I aim to help you integrate all parts of yourself to a space of Powerful inner strength

Visiting past experience's can help us move forward from it.  Working with residue of old issues, can enable one to see 'internal scripts' and our unconscious triggers that may manifest with symptoms of anxiety.  I work with patterns of behaviour, facilitating the ability to manage containment and change.

Everyone has insight into their way of being. Opening this up in a non-judgmental and insightful space can be the healing needed to lay the past to rest whilst also enabling the person to better control their responses and self-agency .

The Inter-Cultural Theory and practice pioneered by a Jafar Kareem, advocated "that a person’s background and culture is fundamental to the way in which they operate in their world regardless of the Culture in which they live".  I take on board the Client's life from their perspective of the culture in which the Client lives and what they are expected to perform within.  This allows the full and real self of the person to shine and be at one, revealing a more 'holistic self’ to function peacefully. Being "who you are", will allow a settled you to move and integrate in a more relaxed and peaceful way.

Member organisations

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
