About me

Hello, my name is Pamela. I am passionate about helping people feel better. If you are feeling sad, distressed, anxious or confused and want to change how you see everything right now, I can offer you a safe, confidential environment to talk about you and your feelings. I will support you through your difficulties, help you achieve clarity and take those first steps forward towards making changes you choose to make and discover the life that you want.

At some time in our lives we all experience difficulties and feel that we are struggling to cope or feel stuck and are unable to move forward. Not everyone who seeks counselling has a specific problem or area of critical concern, sometimes we can't put our finger on what is troubling us, but things just don't feel right. It takes great courage to take the first step and talk to someone about things. I might just be able to help you make sense of the confusion.

Although well meaning, sometimes friends and family are unable to help, either because they are too close or because they may judge you or offer advice.

By exploring your situation, by listening to your problems and by encouraging you to discover the answers without judging your actions or your decisions ,I can help you take  the first steps to discovering a happier more fulfilled you.

My approach is as individual as you are and some benefit by Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). By working together in this way I aim to help you change your mind set to a more positive and helpful way of thinking and an improved sense of well- being to enable you to achieve your potential and your goals.

My private practice is based in Waddington, approximately 5 miles from Lincoln. I can offer you a warm and friendly welcome and an atmosphere in which you can talk about your problems without being judged. I have helped people over the past 13 years suffering with depression, anxiety, relationship problems, low self esteem, childhood and child related issues, bereavement, obsessive compulsive disorders, work related problems, anger management difficulties and stress.

Sessions last for 60 minutes and after our first meeting you can reflect and decide if you would like to continue to work together. The duration and frequency of the sessions is entirely up to you. Some clients benefit from a couple of sessions and some find longer term counselling helpful. You of course are free to end counselling at any time you wish.

I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and work within its ethical framework.

Testimonials from some previous clients

One of the loveliest things about seeing Pamela for counselling is that she has the sort of sparkling and kind personality that makes you feel better for just turning up. It's obvious that she has a lot of experience and is very gentle with how she goes about each session. I always left feeling boistered up and really good about myself, which I didn't expect from being an emotive person and my first time with counselling. I would highly recommend Pamela to help with the most sensitive of people and subjects. The setting is very safe, calm, peaceful and uninterrupted. Claire.

Pamela is an extremely special person who means so much to me. She gave me light, hope, inspiration and belief in myself. She has no doubt saved me. There is always a special someone that comes into your life and joins the dots and makes sense of everything. Thank you, I owe you everything. Ali.

'After nearly 10 years of suffering with sporadic short term bout of depression, I plucked up the courage to make an appointment to visit Pamela. It was a very difficult decision to make. However, I can honestly say that it was one of the best decisions that I have ever made. Throughout the sessions with Pamela I was able to understand both my symptoms and triggers, in a confidential, pleasant and non judgemental environment. I was then provided with the necessary skills and knowledge to be able to successfully address the issues I had developed over the years. Within a short space of time I was able to successfully improve my quality of life and well being. Thanks. Mathew'.

An 8 Year Update from a client following counselling

'Thinking back on how intensely suicidal I was when I was accessing your service, it still feels slightly surreal to be typing from a future that I never perceived was possible. I can now actually look forward to a future positively, rather than previously where I always just assumed I would not be alive. As of this year, I'm now a registered health nurse and I absolutely love the role. I now work 13 hour shifts that I find incredibly fullfilling. Having achieved top marks  I am now planning to to a masters and then PHD. A big transformation, to think that for many years I found it near impossible to get out of bed in a morning because I was in such a low mood.

Ultimately, I just wanted to say thank you, the impact you have on my life is genuinly huge. You played a massive role in keeping me alive at one of the worst times of my life and I can't imagine where I would have been now otherwise. I've attached a photo of me loving life so you can see the new me! ' Tim.

'I'd been on the search of happiness as long as I can remember and genuinely didn't think I'd ever get to understand how it felt. Since embarking on my journey with Pamela, I have found myself, love myself and made peace with everything that was holding me back. She's kind, genuine and puts you at ease instantly - never did I believe I could look forward to counselling sessions so much! Thanks for listening and laughing with me every step of the way. Everyone needs a Pamela in their life!' Jasmine

'Just want to say, thank you for all your help. You have really helped me turn my life around.' Sarah

'Freudian garbage! Pretentious prats presuming to tell me how to live my life and what a loser I am yet they are so dysfunctional they all should be in a Woody Allen film! Besides, I did 24 years in an elite arm of H.M Forces so what could a woman tell me about my problems and how to deal with them? Exactly - zip! Just suck-it-up and crack -on... Seven sessions later I commend this engaging, professional and grounded person to you. Put aside your preconceptions. Leave behind your fears and prejudices. Open-up your heart, your mind and your consciousness. Pamela is a listener, an incredibly talented listener. She is the objectiveness we all need from time to time. She is totally non-judgemental and will never, ever, even suggest what you need to do- you will gain that understanding yourself from the reflective journey you will undertake together. I left each session feeling cleansed, empowered and smiling'

'Before seeing Pamela there was nothing I liked about myself. Now I feel so much more self-confident. Pamela has helped me grow as a person. Thanks.' Chloe.

'I have always been a 'worrier' but it had become truly overwhelming. I was experiencing extreme anxiety which had stopped me enjoying life. I was afraid to leave the house and had self diagnosed health anxiety. I had had investigations and even some medical treatment but nothing had worked.

Pamela was recommended to me and I honestly  didn't think that counselling would benefit me. I openly admit now that I had no idea what counselling was.

I just a few months chatting with Pam I feel back to being 'me'.

I just want to say a massive thank you for being so kind, understanding and supportive but also for being human and making me feel at ease'. Sally.

'I was initially referred to Pamela through work as I suffer with a degenerative illness with no cure. Pamela has really helped me focus on what's important to me and helped me face the challenges ahead much more positively. Thank you, you have helped me enormously.' Carol.

'Without you I would have remained in the miserable rut/existence for years to come. You have empowered me to find the strength for myself, I am forever indebted, thank you'

'Coming out of a controlling relationship I was convinced I could not make it on my own. Talking to Pam made me see what a special person I was and that I could achieve my goals. Without Pam coming into my life at the right time I would not be in the position I am today. Thank You'

'Thank you so much for all of your help, I feel amazing!'

'Thank you for all your help over the last couple of years. I'm aware that I was paying for your advice but you never made me feel that way. You listened to me in a way that no one had before. For this and much more I'm forever thankful. A lot of your guidance has helped me to become the confident and happy young man I am today'. Sincerely, thank you.' Male client aged 20.

' Thank you for all your help over the past 15 months. I wouldn't be in the calm and content place I am today without you helping me through it' Female client aged 21

'I really can't thank you enough for all that you have done for me. You really saved me and I will use so much of the techniques you have given me'. Female client.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
