About me

Sometimes life can be difficult and intense, and it's okay to recognise when you could use some extra support. You may be experiencing the pressure of anxiety, the heavy fog of depression, or simply a feeling that something isn't quite right. Or maybe you are navigating a difficult time from your past, feeling stuck in the present, or looking for more meaning and connection in your life.

Whatever you may be carrying, you are not alone!

Talking things through with someone who isn't part of your everyday circle, who's there to listen, without judgment, can make a real difference. That's where therapy can help you.

My Approach:

I believe in the potential of every person to find their own path to growth and healing, and in our sessions, you will be guiding the way. I won't necessarily direct what we talk about or tell you what to do, but I'll be there alongside you, being fully present and listening to you without judgment, focusing on what feels most important to you. Your safety and sense of stability are always my priority, and so I work with you, aiming to make this into a space where you can hopefully be yourself, and talk at your own pace.

I practice in an integrative way, meaning that I may bring in teachings or techniques from different therapeutic modalities that I have learnt, based on what is relevant to you. In sessions, I may ask you questions to help clarify or gently explore things with you, and to help you understand yourself more deeply and make sense of your experiences. I put a focus on building up the trust between us, as I understand that therapy can feel quite alien or scary at first, and that it may take some time before you feel ready or feel safe enough to open up, and that is okay.

I also work with an awareness of the mind-body connection. Sometimes our emotions show up physically, maybe through tension, tightness, or sensations that may connect to past experiences. If it feels right for you, we can explore where feelings may be experienced in your body and gently build self-awareness and coping techniques that can support your healing.

I understand that therapy is a very personal process, that has to feel right for you, and so I offer free initial chats (online or by phone, whichever you'd prefer) to help you get a feel for what therapy might look like with me, and ask any questions you may have. There is no pressure after one of these chats to book in with me, as I want you to take as much time as you need to think about your next steps.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
