About me
My name is Nikki and many thanks for visiting my page.
I am a fully qualified counsellor with 13years counselling skills experience and 22years experience of working within young people in education. I am also a Registered Member of the BACP and an Accredited member of NCS. As a counsellor I am honesty, empathetic, warm and professional offering unconditional positive regard to all of my clients. I can offer a safe, confidential environment where you will not feel judged or uncomfortable as we work together to explore your thoughts feelings and behaviours to help you to move forward in a more positive light.
I have a special interest in working with clients who are presenting with relationship or work-related stress, anxiety or depression. I also have a vast amount of experience of working with children who have anxiety, depression, suffering from grief and in particular those who are struggling to understand their feelings and emotions etc. We will work together to explore those deeper issues and patterns, gaining a greater understanding of yourself and your relationships in the process as we address those specific problems that's causing you concern or confusion.
I am passionate about mental health and well-being and know that during this current turbulent and uncertain time, we need to look out for each other and talk about your worries, stresses and anxieties. As we begin to move forward through this pandemic it has never been more important to ensure our key workers mental health is looked after and stress free.
Over the years I have worked with adults and vulnerable children who have presented with a wide variety of personal issues including:

relationships - divorce or separation, toxic friendships / relationships
addictions, anger management

When working with you, I will use which ever counselling model that is more appropriate to your individual needs. This is because everyone experiences life and difficulties in a completely different ways therefore, needing bespoke therapy. I will work with you to explore your feelings, relationships with others etc to resolve those feelings that stem from your past that may now be causing you some difficulties.
Within the realms of CBT counselling, we will work within the here and now to understand, accept and explore your thoughts, feelings and negative behaviours that are impeding upon your life. Within this form of counselling you will learn the skills to enable yourself to deal with any problems that may arise in the future using the CBT approach.

I am from a Person-Centred & Psychodynamic Counselling background and can also offer Cognitive Behavioural Therapy as well. As a qualified counsellor I work according to the BACP regulations and ethical guidelines, ensuring my practice is to a high standard.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
