About me

Hi I'm Nikki, a psychological therapist who has been practising first in psychology, then counselling and CBT since 2009.  I offer you a bespoke service based on your presenting problems and what you would like to change.  Being trained in multiple modalities ensures I can tailor my approach to best suit the support you are looking for. I offer face to face counselling on the Wirral and online across the UK.  I am an Accredited Professional Member of the BACP and NCPS and Graduate Member of the BPS. I carry full liability and indemnity insurance, and I am registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office in respect of data handling and GDPR.

I take a person-centred approach with all clients, ensuring you have the safe space you need, then combine this support with models such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness and Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT). In being person-centred, I assure that you are seen and heard with dignity, respect, empathy and autonomy. You and I work together using the strategies provided by CBT and SFBT to guide and empower you. Combining our expertise as a mini team, we can set goals to move you forward to be the change you need. Therapy is tailored to your individual needs, encouraging and equipping you to become your own therapist, using a variety of tools, strategies and psycho-education. Skills that last beyond the time of our work together.

Therapy

I offer 50 minutes sessions with the intention of therapy being a short intervention, typically between 4-12 sessions. If longer therapy is required, for deep seated trauma for example, we can discuss longer term support that suits your needs. I also offer a free 15 minute triage to get a sense of the presenting problems and if I am the right therapist for you. You are under no obligation to continue therapy with me following the triage appointment if you do not wish to and you do not have to give any reason. If I’m not the right therapist for you, I can help make a suitable referral if that is helpful to you. If you would like to continue to work with me, the costs are £60 per 50 minute session.

Besides my private practice, I also work for:

Traumaticus (The Working Conversations Group), Heswall Hills Counselling Centre and Merseyside Police.

The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
