About me

I’m a BACP registered counsellor/psychotherapist dedicated to helping individuals navigate life's challenges and achieve personal growth.

I work as a Humanistic Integrative counsellor drawing primarily on the principles of Person Centred Theory, but where appropriate I also incorporate elements of Transactional Analysis (TA) and Gestalt.

Person-centred therapy focuses on the individual's capacity for self-healing and personal growth, creating a therapeutic environment where clients feel valued, heard, and understood.

Person-centred therapy is used to treat a wide range of psychological issues, including depression, anxiety, stress, trauma, relationship problems, and low self-esteem. It is particularly effective for clients who prefer a non-directive approach and want to take an active role in their therapy.

My approach will always be rooted in empathy, respect, and collaboration. I believe that therapy is a partnership, where we work together to explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences in a safe, non-judgmental space.

Whether you're dealing with anxiety, depression, relationship issues, or seeking deeper self-understanding, my goal is to support you in finding clarity, healing, and a path forward and I very much look forward to the opportunity to work with you on your journey to well-being.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a registered member of the British Association of Counsellors & Psychotherapists (BACP).

I studied for 4 years with the CPCAB (the UK's leading counselling awarding organisation regulated by Ofqual, CCEA and Qualifications Wales) and through them, I gained a level 4 diploma in Therapeutic Counselling which is a BACP Approved Practitioner qualification.

I work with adults who may be experiencing all manner of general mental health issues including but not limited to Abuse, Anger Management, Anxiety, Bereavement, Child related issues, Cultural issues, Depression, Health matters, Identity, Loss, Men's issues, Personal development, Redundancy, Relationships, Self-esteem, Sexual identity, Spirituality, Stress, Trauma and Work Related issues.

I should stress that I will only suggest that we work together if I genuinely believe I can help you and that the work we are to do falls within my level of competency.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Further information

I can offer face to face, online or telephone sessions.

I offer a free 15 minute assessment session either online or on the telephone. If you decide to start therapy with me the normal sessions are up to 50 minutes

The first session is an assessment session. I will be wanting to find out more about you, your current situation and your past. The aim of this session is for us to decide if I am a 'right fit' for you to provide you with the best support you need and for you to get a 'feel' of how I work.

We can explore any part of your life that is difficult to talk to other people about, in a confidential and safe space just for you. We can work at the same time each week or, where possible, be more flexible in our timings. Weekly sessions are recommended at the early stages of counselling although some people also just appreciate a one off session to talk through or offload things that they cannot talk to anyone else about.
