Nichola Tidmarsh Tidmarsh Timber Hut
About me
I have been supporting vulnerable children and adults for many years, as a Social Worker, Advocate and supporting adults and young people with Drug and Alcohol Addictions. These experiences highlighted to me, the need for therapeutic support for these vulnerable people, rather than a solution based and often practical approach to the behaviours that were leading to their difficulties.
Therefore, I retrained to be a Psychotherapeutic Counsellor, it was essential to me that people had a safe and tranquil space to come and explore any behaviours, thoughts or feelings that were causing them distress in their lives, so I created Tidmarsh Timber Hut.
Tidmarsh Timber Hut is a beautiful Shepherd's Hut located in East Devon, offering peace, confidentiality and a place to "just be". I offer a compassionate and very human response so that you can be real about your problems and together we can move forward. In conjunction with the traditional talking therapies, I can incorporate many creative elements into my practice. These creative approaches are immediately engaging and you do not feel the pressure of always talking. At times, you may not be able to put your thoughts and feelings into words.
I am a relational integrative therapist, and my hope is that our relationship will develop into a comfortable yet professional place where you can be yourself and that you experience that I am genuine in wanting to help you to make your own choices about your life and concerns. At the very least, Tidmarsh Timber Hut will enable you to have space away from every day life stress and space and time to reflect. Please look on my website for pictures of Tidmarsh Timber Hut.
I work in an integrative way which means I tailor my approach to each individual using several distinct models of counselling including The Integrative Theory of Self. And I believe that all human behaviour has meaning in some context. I would support you to find out what that meaning is for you.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.
Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.
All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
