Person Centred Counsellor for anxiety, depression and stress

About me

I am a humanistic integrative person-centred counsellor and offer in-person, online, walk and talk sessions and home visits. I have 30 years’ experience of working in and supporting staff in the public sector. I have lived experience of anxiety, trauma and close bereavement; I am a husband, a father, and like you navigate the challenges life throws at us. I believe I can bring a warm, authentic, and genuine presence to our sessions, creating a safe space where you can feel truly heard and valued. I practice person-centred counselling combining CBT tools and techniques to help you make sense of your world and empower you to make meaningful change that is right for you.

With over three decades of experience working within the public sector, much of it in leadership roles, I have spent my career supporting individuals and teams through highly challenging and complex situations. Now in my early fifties, I bring not only formal counselling qualifications but also a wealth of life experience and maturity. I have lived experience of managing anxiety and panic attacks and I know that recovery and growth are possible. I am committed to helping those who suffer from anxiety, stress and depression, taking those small steps together.

I have first-hand understanding of the impact of trauma and the resilience required to navigate it, having supported many people facing difficult circumstances. This combination of professional training, extensive life experience, and a compassionate approach enables me to offer clients a safe, grounded, and empathetic space in which to explore their own challenges.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
