About me
I'm Nawal and I am a qualified and experienced counsellor dedicated to create a calming, non-judgemental space to explore all your thoughts and emotions without you feeling like a burden. Starting therapy can be a daunting and overwhelming experience so I'm here to support you through your goals and needs at your own pace. I am warm, open and empathetic and aim to help people help themselves.
I have experience working with men, women, adults and young people from a range of faiths, cultures and upbringings and have worked with many issues such as anxiety, depression, ADHD, panic attacks, trauma, abuse, low self-esteem, grief and loss, and more.
I offer online sessions and I am mainly person-centred.
This means you have the autonomy to bring whatever is on your mind to the sessions. They are led by you at your pace. This can include bringing things from your past that we can work together to dig deeper and take achievable steps for your personal development. This can be hard work but I aim to support you through your journey in an open and manageable way. Therapy can look different for different people and there is no one way to do therapy! For example, we can include creative methods to work through your emotions, integrate mindful techniques like breathing or meditation, or put our minds together to do the therapy in a way that works just for you.
Drop me a message if you have any questions.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have an extensive background in Psychology and a postgraduate qualification in counselling and psychotherapy where I have worked with both adults and young people.
I specialise in domestic abuse-trauma informed counselling, supporting men, women and young people who have suffered from abuse in the home.
I have also spent my time volunteering for various organisations such as Barnabus Homeless Charity, Lancashire Equalities and SHOUT helpline.
Member organisations

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
