About me

My name is Natelie Henriques, and I am a somatic and integrative counsellor specialising in perinatal mental health, trauma, and nervous system regulation.

I support individuals who may be feeling overwhelmed, anxious, low in mood, or impacted by trauma. This can include experiences during pregnancy, birth, postpartum, or other life transitions.

My approach is warm, collaborative, and tailored to you. I don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all way of working. Instead, I draw on a range of therapeutic approaches to support your individual needs, helping you gain clarity, understand your experiences, and begin to shift patterns that no longer feel helpful.

Alongside talking therapy, I also work with the body. This means we may gently explore how stress, trauma, and emotions are held in your nervous system, helping you to develop practical tools to feel more grounded, regulated, and able to cope in everyday life.

Our work together offers a safe and supportive space where you can reflect, explore, and reconnect with yourself at your own pace.

I have particular experience supporting mothers-to-be, parents, and individuals navigating anxiety, trauma, and emotional overwhelm.

Sessions

I offer flexible ways of working to suit your needs:

Face-to-face sessions I offer counselling from my welcoming space in Bexleyheath. You are welcome to bring your baby along if needed, and I have experience supporting clients with babies in arms.

Online sessions (Zoom)Online therapy offers flexibility and privacy, allowing you to access support from the comfort of your own home.

Walk and talk therapy I also offer outdoor sessions in local parks, providing a calm and grounding environment to support our work together.

I offer both daytime and evening appointments.

Training, qualifications & experience

I currently work with MumsAid, a specialist perinatal mental health charity in South East London, where I provide one-to-one counselling and facilitate a Pregnancy and Birth Trauma Support Group.

Alongside this, I run my private practice, Steps Therapy, offering a supportive and flexible space for clients experiencing a range of emotional and psychological challenges. My work integrates both talking therapy and body-based approaches to support deeper healing and reconnection.

I also have clinical experience working in addiction services at Kenward Trust, a residential rehabilitation centre. This has strengthened my understanding of trauma, dependency, and recovery.

My core training is in Integrative Counselling (CPCAB Level 4). I have also completed CPCAB Level 5 in Somatic Trauma Therapy, supporting clients to work safely with trauma and nervous system dysregulation. In addition, I hold qualifications in Online and Telephone Counselling, Safeguarding, and I regularly engage in Continuing Professional Development.

Before training as a counsellor, I spent over a decade supporting women and families as a Birth and Postnatal Doula, Antenatal Teacher, Hypnobirthing Instructor, and Bodyworker specialising in antenatal and postnatal care. I have worked across South East London and North Kent, including within NHS Trusts and local authority Children’s Centres.

I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), fully insured, and DBS checked.

Whether you are working through birth trauma, anxiety, relationship challenges, recovery from addiction, or simply need space to feel heard and supported, I offer a grounded, compassionate, and integrative approach always led by your needs and at your pace.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Your First Session (Discovery & Assessment)

Our first session is a space to get to know each other and explore what has brought you to therapy.

We will talk about:

what you’ve been experiencing
what feels difficult right now
what you might be hoping for from support
This session is also an opportunity for you to get a sense of me and how I work. It’s important that you feel comfortable, safe, and able to be yourself.

There is no pressure to commit we will simply explore whether working together feels like the right fit for you

Working Together

If we decide to continue, we will begin to build a way of working that feels supportive and manageable for you.

Therapy is not a one-size-fits-all process. Some sessions may involve talking through your thoughts and experiences, while others may gently explore how emotions and stress are showing up in your body.

At times, we may:

reflect on patterns or past experiences
explore current challenges or relationships
notice physical sensations linked to stress or overwhelm
develop grounding and calming tools you can use outside of sessions
We will move at a pace that feels safe for you.

How You Might Feel

It’s completely natural for different emotions to come up during therapy.

You might feel:

unsure or hesitant at the beginning
relieved to finally talk
emotional or vulnerable at times
clearer and more understood as sessions progress
There is no “right” way to feel in therapy. Everything you bring is welcome.

A Gentle, Body-Aware Approach

Alongside talking, I also bring awareness to the body and nervous system.

Stress, anxiety, and trauma are not only experienced in the mind  they are also felt physically. You might notice this as tension, restlessness, shutdown, or feeling on edge.

We can gently explore this together, helping you to:

understand your responses
feel more grounded and present
develop practical ways to regulate overwhelming feelings

Areas I Commonly Support With

I often work with individuals and couples experiencing:

Anxiety/ Depression or overwhelm during pregnancy or early parenthood
Fertility challenges and the emotional impact of trying to conceive

Challenges balancing parenting and daily life
Addiction and recovery

Moving Forward

Therapy is a space where you don’t have to hold everything on your own.

Over time, many clients begin to feel more steady, more connected to themselves, and more able to respond to life with greater clarity and self-compassion.
