About me

Many clients, with no prior knowledge of counselling, believe that the counsellor will sort their problems out for them. I will help you to explore your own issues, feelings, beliefs, behaviour, and worldview, so you can become more self-aware and achieve greater independence. During our sessions, I will help you to realise what resources and support are available to you that you can use to work through your own issues, build your self-confidence and appreciate that you always have options. I will treat you as the expert on yourself, as no-one else knows exactly what it’s like to be you.

Counselling or coaching can be useful for anyone who wants to explore the way they're thinking or feeling further, as well as for anyone experiencing a problem or issue they are keen to resolve. People may choose to speak to a counsellor/coach because they feel they cannot speak to their other half/friends/family about such personal issues.

I will not judge you, no matter what you bring to the session. This helps build a trustworthy relationship in which you can feel free and supported to disclose whatever is troubling you. Eventually it will lead you to discover your own abilities and autonomy, so that you can cope with current and future problems.

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

NCPS
National Counselling & Psychotherapy Society (NCPS)

The National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society This Not For Profit association of counsellors and psychotherapists aim to support the counselling profession, members and training organisations. In 2013 the NCS register was accredited by the Professional Standards Authority under the Accredited Voluntary Register Scheme. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Further information

Getting started

I offer a free 15-minute consultation by phone, text, or WhatsApp on 07359 082492 — a gentle first step with no pressure to book. You can ask questions, explain what you are looking for, and see whether counselling with me feels like the right fit.

I aim to respond within 48 hours. After your consultation, a first full session is often available within about a week, depending on diary space. I will give you an honest estimate — there is no obligation to continue.

Sessions

Counselling sessions are typically 50 minutes. They take place in a calm, private therapy room at Tame Avenue, Wednesbury WS10 0RL (free parking nearby), or online if that is easier for you. Many clients across Walsall, Wolverhampton, Dudley, Sandwell, and the wider Black Country choose online when travel is difficult.

Sessions are for adults and young people from age 10 upwards, subject to suitability. Please mention the young person's age when you enquire.

Your first full session

The first session is a chance to talk about what has brought you to counselling, ask questions, and get a feel for the room and how I work. There is no pressure to share more than you are comfortable with — you lead the pace.

Fees and payment

Fees are discussed openly at your free consultation, including concession options where available. Payment is by cash or bank transfer and is required before your session time.

Please give at least 48 hours' notice to cancel or rearrange a session. Short-notice cancellations and missed appointments are charged at the full session fee.

Private counselling only

Phoenix Renewed does not offer NHS-funded or charity-funded places. If you need funded support, I can signpost you when you enquire. If NHS waiting times feel too long, private counselling can be a calm next step — but Phoenix Renewed is not an emergency service. For urgent help, contact your GP, NHS 111, or Samaritans on 116 123 (free, 24/7).

Professional coaching and supervision

I also offer professional coaching for leaders and education professionals — forward-focused support separate from counselling. Fees are discussed at consultation.

Clinical supervision for trainee and qualified counsellors is available — integrative, person-centred, in person or online. Contact me to register interest.
