About me

Specialising in child, adolescent and young adult mental health, I am a Psychodynamic counsellor offering children & young people the opportunity to take control of their emotional health, development and wellbeing.

I offer specialist therapeutic support with personal, social and emotional dysregulation, withdrawal, trauma and breakdowns in mental health.

I listen & observe using play, craft works and free speech as communicative mediums to engage and work with my clients. The goal is for young people to gain a deeper understanding of their distress or challenges, and explore the underlying root cause of their distress.

I work alongside clients at their pace and capacity to safely bring their unconscious experiences into awareness, so that they are in a better position to think about and understand the roots of their distress and draw links between past experiences and present-day challenges.

I provide all my clients with a confidential and therapeutic space for them to feel safe and heard without judgement or limitations to what they feel is important to address or disclose in each session.

Young people benefit in many ways, from building confidence and self-esteem, decreasing anxiety, increasing personal awareness and inner self-worth, to lifting themselves out of persistent low mood or chronic distress and discovering an inner mental strength they never knew they had.

For children and adolescents aged 5-17years, I provide face-to-face individual counselling sessions on a weekly or fortnightly basis.

If you are aged 18-24 years and seeking individual support, I offer weekly or fortnightly appointments which can take place face-to-face or online if appropriate. Please contact me to discuss online counselling options.

Training, qualifications & experience

Whilst completing my undergraduate studies, I worked in children's residential homes for looked after children (LAC) with complex needs and moderate to severe mental health diagnoses. This environment provided intense support, guidance and care for children and adolescents, where typical foster placements would be limited in offering specialised therapeutic care.

Following this, I moved into clinical care working for the National Health Service (NHS) on an acute paediatric ward for children aged 0-16. After a few years, I took an opportunity to work in Burns Intensive Care (Child & Adult), during which time I began my core training in Psychodynamic Counselling.

Toward the end of my training, I joined the North East London Foundation Trust (NELFT) Eating Disorders Team as a community Mental Health Practitioner, for SET CAMHS.

I continue to work within the Eating Disorders Team, now as a Senior Mental Health Practitioner, delivering intensive support programmes to young people and families.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
