About me

Hello, I’m Nasreen, a psychodynamic psychotherapist and registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).

We all experience moments where we feel low, lost or even ready to give up entirely. When unhelpful patterns persist, therapy can be a useful way of considering the root causes of thoughts, feelings, behaviours and relationships leading to distress in our lives. My role is to offer a calm and reflective space to bring your whole self (even the uncomfortable parts) so that together we can begin to think about the challenges that you’re experiencing.

Training, qualifications & experience

Psychodynamic psychotherapy encourages you to return to your past experiences and earliest relationships as a way of understanding how this has shaped who you are today and how you approach obstacles as an adult. The therapeutic relationship therefore serves as a tool for healing, allowing me to recognise the connection between your struggles and reflect on how this might be holding you back. I believe that this can bring about positive change to your emotional development and self-understanding in the long term.

I have worked with individuals facing a range of issues from anxiety, depression and stress to grief and loss, low self-esteem and relationship problems. I have a Masters degree in Psychodynamic Counselling & Psychotherapy (Distinction), alongside varied experience working in different organisations and as a private practitioner. My approach is to create a safe, nurturing and non-judgemental environment so that we can work at a pace that feels most comfortable to you.

On a personal note, I have felt and witnessed the benefits of receiving the right support, so regardless of whether or not I am a part of your therapeutic journey, I sincerely hope that it can bring you the confidence, growth, and inner peace that you seek.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
