About me

Are you feeling that everyone else has their life together and somehow you are different?
You might suspect that you are autistic or have ADHD, or you already have a diagnosis and wonder 'What now?' and 'Who am I?' - I know what it feels like.

If you are feeling overwhelmed, under pressure, or like you’re constantly trying to meet expectations that feel out of reach, you’re not alone. Many of the people I work with feel anxious, stuck, exhausted, or unsure of themselves, often after years of masking, trying to cope, bottling up feelings or just pushing through for a bit longer.

Having discovered in my mid 30s that I am autistic and have ADHD and facing the difficult decision whether to seek a formal diagnosis or not, equips me with insight that is had to gain when you don't know what it's like when you are somehow different but did not know why for so many years.

Because of this, I want to reach out to those who feel the same, who are finding life hard and frustrating at times. You don’t need to know exactly what you want to work on, or have the right words, we can begin wherever you are and see what is going on in your life right now.

Many clients say their sessions helped them to gain clarity and understanding of the real reason for their distress, worries and overwhelm. 'You are the first counsellor who is not trying to fix me.' is feedback which means a lot in a society that thrives for self improvement and optimisation, but sometimes all we need is to slow down and reassess who we are.

Over time, people often notice the high expectations that are causing anxiety are those of other people or even the family or culture they have gown up with. And they begin to recognise their own needs which then allows them to develop more understanding why they feel they are different and grow compassion and patience for themselves.

I value open and honest communication, I’m very happy to talk about your preferences and we can agree what our sessions together are like, for example around questions, structure, pace, or communication style, and I welcome feedback if something simply doesn’t work for you.

My approach is integrative and person-centred, drawing on different therapeutic ideas depending on your needs. When helpful, I use concepts from Transactional Analysis to explore patterns in relationships and communication or DBT skills to explore feelings and offer strategies to deal with feelings in times of overwhelm.

While I am happy to tell you that I have experience supporting people with anxiety, low mood, self-esteem difficulties, self-harm, suicidal thoughts, grief and loss, and feeling overwhelmed by life’s demands, I think most important is that we are getting and are able to build a relationship that makes you feel heard, supported and safe. The best way to find out is to book a free 15 min introductory video call with me via my website, or get in contact via email or text message.

I offer sessions online using google meet, traditional in the room face-to-face counselling outside Banbury, and my favourite nature-based 'Walk and Talk Therapy' or 'Nature Therapy' in Banbury, Brackley and I am open to explore new outdoor spaces in near you if possible.

If you would like to get am idea of whether we might work well together, please message or email me to arrange a free introductory video call.

Walk and Talk (Nature Therapy)
For some people, sitting in a room and maintaining eye contact can feel intense or restrictive. Walk-and-talk therapy offers an alternative, moving side by side outdoors, which many clients find reduces anxiety and makes talking feel easier.

Walking can provide rhythm, grounding, and space to think. For some people, including those with ADHD, movement can also support processing and focus.

If you’re interested in this way of working, we would begin with an online session to explore your needs and agree practical arrangements for therapy outdoors.
