Firstly, hello and welcome to my profile. Thank you for taking the time to explore if the therapy I offer may be helpful for you. It can sometimes be daunting looking into beginning or restarting therapy so if you have any questions please do let me know.

I am a Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist. Which means I am trained to work with people who are experiencing a range of difficulties such as Depression, Generalised Anxiety Disorder (worry), Social Anxiety, Stress, Burnt-Out, Self Esteem Difficulties, Health Anxiety, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Panic Disorder, work place difficulties and Post Natal Depression.
CBT is the recommended treatment for many of the above difficulties. Generally, it can help you change behaviours that you're not happy with and it can help shift unhelpful thoughts.
Our sessions will give you a safe, confidential and supportive space. They will allow you to explore and develop insights into how you are currently interacting in the world and points where you feel a sense of being stuck. We can use these insights to understand how to move more towards the things that are meaningful to you in your life.
I believe it is important to build a safe and trusting environment for you to feel able to explore what you are dealing with and I value the therapeutic relationship that we build. I work with the strong ethic of promoting self choice and autonomy and my work is focused on kindly empowering people to take an active role in their wellbeing.
I am able to offer appointments that suit you and our sessions can be either short or long term. I offer face to face, telephone or video sessions (please note that due to COVID-19 restrictions, all therapy will take place by video sessions or telephone as I'm currently unable to offer face to face sessions).
Training, qualifications & experience
I am provisionally accredited with the BABCP.
I am trained in and practice Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. I also have completed additional training in working with those with Long Term Physical Health conditions such as diabetes, chronic pain and chronic fatigue. I have also previously worked in more of a coaching style. I draw on a range of these techniques to manage your specific needs. I have a special interest in self-esteem and empowering individuals to be the best of themselves.
I have worked in the NHS for over 5 years, I have worked as a mental health practitioner. I completed a Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and since being qualified, I have practiced in a mix of both NHS and Bupa.
British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies
The BABCP is the lead organisation for Cognitive Behavioural Therapy in the UK.
Membership is open to anyone with an interest in the practice, theory or development of CBT. BABCP also provides accreditation for CBT therapists.
BABCP accredited members adhere to the Standards of Conduct, Performance and Ethics in the Practice of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies, and are willing to be scrutinised in this adherence as required.
Areas of counselling I deal with
The initial session will last between 50 to 90 minutes. This will allow us time to explore what has brought you to therapy and what you are hoping to get out of therapy. It will also allow you time to decide whether therapy with myself may be helpful for you and you can ask me questions about the therapy I provide to make sure it is a good fit for you.
Subsequent sessions will last 50 minutes.
