About me

Hello and thank you for looking at my details. I have been here myself so I understand how daunting it can feel to find the right counsellor and take that first step. What do I offer? Well, this is my 2nd career, I worked in the corporate world for over 20 years. This experience combined with my travels helped improve my natural ability to connect with people. My curiosity and interest in people nurtured my openness and acceptance for what each person brings. People I met along the way felt comfortable sharing experiences sometimes it was the first time they shared their past with anyone outside their inner circle and often, I was told that I would make a good counsellor so after re-training here I am…

I am here to be alongside you as you start on this path to making sense of life’s rollercoaster. My focus initially will be on building our working relationship so that you feel safe to openly share whatever brings you to therapy. Working together we can explore whatever difficulty you have been through and how it is impacting you in the here and now.

I will listen to you and I will aim to see the world through your lens. I will also hear more than the words I will also pay attention to what it is unsaid; your tone, your body language and facial expression, this is part of my toolbox in helping you make sense of your thoughts, feelings and behaviour. I will be honest, offer another perspective and sometimes I will challenge however, I will do this with empathy, sensitivity, sometimes humour and always with no judgement.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
