About me
I'm a fully accredited CBT therapist. I offer individual and group counselling support for a range of difficulties. I can help with anxiety and mood conditions and specialise in generalised anxiety, OCD, social anxiety, depression, and low self esteem. For those who are unfamiliar with or new to Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, CBT is a form of therapy that explores the connection between our thoughts, feelings, physical reactions and behaviours.
CBT is a client centred therapy that compassionately explores past experiences in relation to current problems. It focuses on positive changes that can be made in the present using guided self-discovery. This may involve re-framing thoughts, accepting difficult emotions, and experimenting with personal behavioural goals.
Reaching out for support in challenging or vulnerable times can be difficult, but you’ve already taken the first major step in supporting yourself by reaching here. I’d recommend chatting to a few different counsellors to find a good fit for you. I offer a 15-20 minute introductory chat to allow us to find out what support you are looking for.
Training, qualifications & experience
I love my job. I consider it a privilege to be invited into people's worlds, to work collaboratively to get a better understanding of their challenges and to consider ways forward together.
I use a variety of evidence-based approaches within CBT including; Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Compassion Focused Therapy, Meta-cognitive Therapy, and Solution Focused Therapy.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy explores what we think, do, and how this makes us feel. Often the most impactful work occurs between sessions when the individual makes their own changes and observations in relation to our therapy work. It is important to enable someone to be the expert in their own mental health and such a rewarding process to be part of.
I am fully accredited by the BABCP (British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies) and have more recently begun my COSCA qualification in clinical supervision to allow me to support other therapist
