About me
I offer psychoanalytic psychotherapy in Wales and online. This is a chance to talk through anything that is troubling you, a bit like counselling. It's confidential, and can be short term or longer depending on what you need, usually once a week.
My website for Wales is at http://www.southwalespsychotherapyandcoaching.co.uk
I also offer supervision for counsellors and therapists in South Wales. Online supervision is also available.
I'm trained and qualified to work with unconscious patterns and processes which can often influence our lives in quite major ways, causing anxiety, depression, panic attacks and low self esteem. We might not even be fully aware of what is driving us, which can cause problems if we are being driven in ways we don't like.
We will focus together on what is bothering you in your life right now, and my approach is to work with you to see if we can discover your own solutions - rather than me telling you what you should do.
I work with adults of all ages, cultures and genders.
Everyone has particular needs, and in addition I have worked with people with visual impairment, deafness, severe autistic spectrum symptoms, learning difficulties and mobility problems along with other needs
People come to psychotherapy with me for all sorts of reasons including:
- depression
- anxiety
- low self esteem
- relationship troubles
- family problems
- eating problems
- bereavement
- illness
- concerns about infertility, conception, pregnancy, childbirth and post-natally
- sexual and gender identity
- sexual issues
- drug and alcohol concerns
- uncertainly about direction
- work and employment
- worries about creativity, spiritual or religious concerns
Sessions in Wales take place in a pleasant consulting room which is comfortable and confidential in Llanover village which lies between Abergavenny and Newport on the A4042.
Training, qualifications & experience
I trained and qualified in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy at the Guild Of Psychotherapists in London. I have been in private practice in central London since 2009 and have now relocated to South East Wales just south of Abergavenny within easy reach of Cardiff and Bristol.
I am registered with the UKCP (Council for Psychoanalysis and Jungian Analysis College) and I adhere to their Ethical Policy which sets standards for my work and conduct.
I am a member of the Guild of Psychotherapists, where I am also a trustee and Honorary Treasurer.
I am a member of the College of Psychoanalysts.
I am a member of the Balint Society.
I completed the Guild of Psychotherapists Pluralistic Supervision Course in 2017/18 and am a qualified supervisor.
Before becoming a psychotherapist, I had many years' experience working as an adult educationalist and then in the charity sector as a manager. I've worked in lots of different settings in London and elsewhere in the UK including project management in the NHS, local authorities and for central government. So I have plenty of experience of working with people from all walks of life.
Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.
As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.
UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
