About me
I am a qualified pluralistic counsellor which means I tailor therapy to suit you as an individual. My practice is grounded in a person centred approach, while recognising that different therapeutic approaches can be helpful at different stages of therapy. Together we can explore what you need from therapy at a pace that feels comfortable for you, adapting our work to meet your individual needs, goals and circumstances.
I have experience and a special interest in supporting people experiencing grief and loss. I trained with Cruse bereavement support and have volunteered with them for over 4 years. I understand that everyone’s experience of grief is unique and that loss can take many forms. Your grief may be associated with the death of a someone close to you, but it may also arise from the end of a relationship, changes in health, the loss of a role or identity or other significant life changes. Whether your loss is recent or from many years ago I offer a compassionate and supportive space where you can feel listened to and explore your feelings at your own pace.
I also have experience of working with clients living with a range of long term health conditions including chronic pain, fibromyalgia, and chronic fatigue. As a SIRPA (stress illness recovery practitioner’s association) practitioner I use a mind body approach to help you understand the mind body connection and identify patterns of stress, pressure and emotional load that may be contributing to your symptoms. Alongside this exploration I can offer practical tools and strategies to support you in reducing fear around symptoms and building nervous system resilience.
In addition to these specific areas, I work with clients experiencing a wide range of difficulties including stress, anxiety, depression, low mood, relationship difficulties, family issues and work related issues.
At the heart of my practice is the belief that you are the expert in your own life. I understand that reaching out for support can feel like a significant step and my role is to offer empathy, understanding and a non judgmental space where you can explore your thoughts, feelings and experiences.
