About me

Hello I am a qualified Psychotherapist and Counsellor, supporting Individuals, Couples and Young People. I have been helping clients for over 18 years and suppport other counsellors in their private practice.

Starting Thearpy - For many people the thought of seeing a counsellor is a big decision and can be very daunting. I hope my profile page informs you about the counselling services I offer and how this can help you, please visit my website www.counsellingwithcare.com

Where to start

Whether  you have had previous counselling experience or none at all and are undecided if counselling is for you, come along for a first session. The session will give you an opportunity to decide if counselling is the right approach, you don’t have to decide there and then, take the time to process and decide if counselling with me is the way forward.

During our counselling sessions I will support you to work towards the outcomes you seek by providing a safe and non judgemental space. A relationship where you can be reflective, feel cared for and listened to.

Counselling can be challenging and emotionally exhausting. I aim to support you every step of this journey.

Research indicates that it is the relationship between the therapist and the client/patient which is the defining factor in the treatment. Choosing the right therapist for you is an important part to the start of your counselling journey

I work with many areas, feeling sad, anxious, relationship issues, depression, generalised anxiety disorder, bipolar/manic depression, postnatal depression, abuse, addiction, bereavement and anger management and many more

About me

As a counsellor for over 18 years, I have extensive experience with couple counselling, individuals, families and children. I have counselled for Relate, GP Surgeries, primary and secondary schools, in private practice and family homes and trained as a family mediator, supporting families through separation. Helping them with child care arrangments and finances.

I have a private practise from my home, in a lodge in the garden providing a tranquil setting. There is parking available for clients, making the process as easy as possible. I provide sessions during the day and evening and work with individuals, couples, teenagers, children and families. Along with my private practise I have my own counselling company called 'Counselling with Care' based in local primary and secondary schools.

Some testimonials, please see my website for more testimonials and more information on how I can help you.

"As a student studying for a diploma in counselling I am required to be in counselling myself and I have been seeing Michelle for well over a year now. I have found the whole experience of getting to know myself better an interesting and fulfilling process; I have felt completely safe and comfortable with Michelle in her cosy room in the garden and have great respect for her warmth and wisdom. I always feel that our sessions are accepting, nonthreatening and yet challenging and that we are working together on equal ground. I have got a huge amount from working with Michelle and I can't recommend her highly enough."

Anna

"I would like to thank you so much for all your help and support over the last few months, through our (more Charlie) difficult and emotional time. Thank you again you have been fantastic"

Rachel

Member organisations

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
