Where to start
Whether you have had previous counselling experience or none at all and are undecided if counselling is for you, come along for an assessment. The assesment gives you an opportunity to decide if counselling is the right approach, you don’t have to decide there and then, take the time to process the assesment, and decide if counselling with me is the way forward.
During our counselling sessions I will support you to work towards the outcomes you seek by providing a safe and non judgemental space. A relationship where you can be reflective, feel cared for and listened to.
Counselling can be challenging, emotional and exhausting. I aim to support you every step of this journey.
Research indicates that it is the relationship between the therapist and the client/patient which is the defining factor in the treatment. Choosing the right therapist for you is an important part to the start of your counselling journey
I work with many areas, anxiety, relationship issues, depression, generalised anxiety disorder, bipolar/manic depression, postnatal depression and many more
As a counsellor for over 15 years, I have extensive experience couples counselling, individuals, families and children. I have counselled for Relate, GP Surgeries, primary and secondary schools, in private practice and family homes.
I am currently based in a secondary school, primary school and a pupil referral unit, the latter is for students struggling to manage in main stream school. My work in schools is focused mainly wtih the students, though at times it is necessary to work with the parents/carers and families of the students as well. I have my own private practice, where I see individuals, couples, children, teenagers and families.
During the counselling sessions I hope you will gain the tools to deal with lifes challenges and feel more satisfied and fulfilled in yourself and with your relationships.
"As a student studying for a diploma in counselling I am required to be in counselling myself and I have been seeing Michelle for well over a year now. I have found the whole experience of getting to know myself better an interesting and fulfilling process; I have felt completely safe and comfortable with Michelle in her cosy room in the garden and have great respect for her warmth and wisdom. I always feel that our sessions are accepting, unthreatening and yet challenging and that we are working together on equal ground. I have got a huge amount from working with Michelle and I can't recommend her highly enough."
"I would like to thank you so much for all your help and support over the last few months, through our (more Charlie) difficult and emotional time. Thank you again you have been fantastic"
