About me

Hi, my name is Michelle.

I would like to welcome you and say how courageous you have been taking the first steps in moving forward.

I am here to help you with any problems you feel are overwhelming and having an impact on your life. You and I will work toward building a special therapeutic relationship based on trust, honesty and a deep empathic understanding.

You will be greeted by a warm welcome and have a safe place to share your experiences. This will be your opportunity to open up and to be truly heard without feeling that you are alone or being judged in any way.

I offer a Person Centred approach which is a non-directive type of counselling although we can work in a more directive way if you require. Non-directive counselling, however, is guided by you. This means you begin to speak about your experiences wherever you feel is most appropriate and continue at your own pace.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have a 9 year eclectic and diverse background including working for the NHS, MIND, ADS, My own Private Practice and Voluntary work. Within this time I have had the privilege of working alongside clients with a wide variety of issues and from all walks of life. I have also carried out managerial roles within organisations and been an advocate for trainee Counsellors. I am also a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and follow their ethical framework.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
