About me
I'm Michelle
Choosing a counsellor is a personal decision. It's important that you feel comfortable with the person you're going to talk to, so I want you to know a little about me and how I work.
I am a counsellor trained in Person-Centred Therapy. At the heart of my practice is the belief that every person is an individual, with their own experiences, feelings and way of understanding the world.
I don't believe that there is a one-size-fits-all answer to what you're going through.
My role isn't to tell you what you should do or how you should feel. Instead, I offer you the time and space to explore things for yourself, while being alongside you throughout that process.
Experience
I have worked in the care sector for around 20 years, supporting people with a wide range of needs and circumstances. My experience has taught me the importance of listening, patience, compassion and treating people with dignity and respect.
Alongside my professional experience, my counselling training has given me the opportunity to develop my understanding of people, relationships and the experiences that can shape us.
I have a particular interest in supporting people through bereavement, loss and significant life changes, as well as those who may feel overwhelmed, stuck or unsure about what comes next.
How I work
I aim to create a relationship where you feel safe enough to be honest about what is really going on for you. I won't judge you, tell you what you should do or make assumptions about your experiences. You are the expert on your own life.
My role is to listen carefully, try to understand your experience from your perspective and offer a space where you can explore your thoughts and feelings without judgement. I believe sometimes we just need someone to sit with us while we work things out.
That's what With You Therapy means to me being alongside you, rather than telling you where you need to go.
