Hello, I'm Michael,
Thank you for taking that first brave step to join me here. Like most of us at one time or another we face times in all our lives’ when we just need some space to be still and reflect, a space where we feel accepted, understood, and supported in gaining a deeper awareness into why we feel the way we do.
I hope to offer you a safe, comfortable and warm place in which to reflect on any challenging life situations that you may be facing right now.
I offer short and long term therapy in-person and via zoom.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have a Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling,
I have worked within the NHS offering short term therapy (6-12 weeks) and I have also worked within an agency offering open ended therapy. I enjoy working with adults of all ages, from all walks of life and I am passionate about helping people to find their best self. I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and adhere to their ethical framework.
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
Accredited Register Scheme
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
Areas of counselling I deal with
£50.00 per session
Free initial telephone session
Concessions offered for
My fees are £50 per session (sessions are 50 minutes).
Initially I recommend we have a conversation over the phone for 15 minutes in which we can both ask some questions and discuss your reason for counselling. We can then arrange a time and day in which to start.
I only have a limited number of concession or reduced fee spaces.
When I work
I will be mainly working online for the moment, while I am looking for premises for in person sessions..
What to expect from our first session:
The first 50-minute no-obligation session is there for you to ask questions and for me to take your history. This allows you to get a sense of whether you feel you could work with me, and for us to decide whether we are the right fit. And this will be where our journey together begins.
