About me
About me and what you can expect
Hello and welcome. I'm Mike and I am a qualified Counsellor.
Thank you for taking the time and energy to start the process of researching whether I may be the most suitable therapist for your needs.
It's not always easy to reach out to ask for help, in fact it is very brave. By talking through your issues with a trained professional you can gain a greater understanding of your internal conflicts and what triggers them, so that you can recognise, tolerate and discover how to cope with them in vulnerable moments.
My approach
I am an integrative counsellor which means that I will draw on a number of different theories that best address your needs depending upon how your own unique set of life circumstances, difficulties and challenges have shaped and impacted you.
My aim is to help you explore your issues, fears and concerns carefully, empathically and without judgement. I will provide you with a safe space in which a trusting relationship can develop so that you can increase your wellbeing, build resilience, alleviate your distress and become the best version of yourself.
Where
Counselling can take place either face-to-face or online. My practice is in Claygate, Surrey and I will provide you with a comfortable place in a confidential setting. Parking is freely available.
Next steps
It is important that you carefully select your counsellor and with this in mind I offer a free 30-minute consultation by telephone or face-to-face in which I will listen to you, the reason you would like to have therapy and talk with you about your feelings and expectations. This will also give you the opportunity to raise any questions that you may have.

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
