About me

Hi, I'm Melanie Dales, and I would like to thank you for taking the time to look at my profile via The Counselling Directory. I appreciate it isn't always easy to take the first step in seeking guidance for our issues, particularly if therapy has never been a consideration in the past.

I believe that the therapeutic process is about embarking on a journey, one during which we discover, accept, understand, and resolve our issues. Once we have reached the stage of understanding we have the key to unlock a bright and fearless future for ourselves. A future that we are able, perhaps for the first time, to embrace. Who knows how long our journey will be ? Each journey is as unique as the individual taking it, but once we have been brave enough to embark on it, it is rare that we will want to turn back.

I am a qualified and experienced psychotherapeutic counsellor, achieving excellent results with both adults and children. I am passionate about my work and I am wholly committed to my professional development in order to ensure that I deliver the best and most effective therapy possible to my clients. I have a relaxed approach that encourages children and teenagers to overcome many of the issues that are present within our modern society. I wholeheartedly believe in the value of early intervention.

I utilise a more personal approach than many counsellors/psychotherapists, because I believe that therapy is about so much more than just attending sessions.

I work with clients throughout Yorkshire and Humberside, and am able to see clients in either their own homes or in a private and comfortable environment in Selby.

It is important to remember that we all have thoughts, feelings and emotions that we are not comfortable with, or don't understand, and that whatever your issue is, or how small or big it may seem to you, you are NOT alone. Counselling/Psychotherapy can help make sense of it all, and more importantly, leave you free to move forward.
