About me

I'm a qualified counsellor supporting adults with a range of issues including anxiety, bereavement, relationship issues, eating disorders, coping with general life issues, childhood experiences and recent life events that cause challenges in your life today.

I am also available to work with young people.

I offer an initial free 20 minute consultation to connect. After this, I can then offer one hour online Zoom sessions (face to face and walking therapy where possible).

Counselling offers an opportunity to share what is going on in one's world and explore events and one's patterns in a safe and non judgmental space.

I aim to walk alongside my client at their pace and enable them to feel supported and held as they explore their inner and outer world.

We can explore what you are hoping to get out of counselling and how many sessions you would like.

I regularly like to check in with my client and see what is working and what we can adapt so you are getting the most out of your sessions.

I use a range of strategies to suit my clients’ needs, choices and developmental stage.

I appreciate that the bond between therapist and client is essential in building a trusting, harmonious and therapeutic relationship. I offer an initial free 20 minute session to connect to see if counselling with me is the way forward for you.

Warm wishes,
Melanie

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
