Mel Burgess MSc, Dip Counselling, Accredited, UKATA Registered
About me
My name is Mel Burgess. I am an experienced counsellor and I offer short, medium and long term therapy. I offer a range of counselling therapies to suit your needs and I specialise in Transactional Analysis, a model of counselling that promotes personal growth and change.
People come to counselling for a variety of reasons. Some people come with a specific issue such as bereavement, loss, relationship or work issues, anxiety, depression, low self esteem, confidence issues or gender concerns. Some people feel generally overwhelmed with the challenges that life brings.
Whatever your need I offer a safe, confidential and supportive space where you can talk about what's worrying you without the fear of being judged, so you feel heard and valued.
I live and work in Paddock Wood Kent. My practice has free parking and is within walking distance of Paddock Wood train station.
I offer an initial free consultation where you can see how you experience working with me.
I have a small number of reduced cost sessions available for clients on a low income.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have a Diploma in Counselling and a Masters degree in Inter-professional Health and Social Care. I have completed 4 years post graduate psychotherapy training.
I have over 30 years experience of working in health and the voluntary sector including 20 years of hospice experience.
I have worked with people with a variety of acute and long-term mental health conditions.
I am a member of United Kingdom Association of Transactional Analysis (UKATA) and the National Counselling Society (NCS) and as such abide by their code of ethics.
