About me

Hi, welcome to my Counselling Directory page.

Life can be a lot, there’s no denying that at times, you can feel overwhelmed, or like you can’t keep up or cope with life or the world around you, I’ve been there too. Coming to counselling takes a lot of courage and can be scary, and this can be made all the more challenging when trying to pick the right counsellor for you.

I work compassionately and empathically, without judgement, to create a confidential and safe space for you to talk and explore your experiences. I can help you to understand your thoughts and feelings to create a better understanding of yourself, others, and your relationships, to promote healing and growth.

I have experience in a range of difficulties such as anxiety, depression, stress, low self-esteem, body image, feeling 'stuck' and coping with change.

My role is not to offer advice or solutions, but to help you develop a greater understanding of yourself to promote growth and wellbeing, so you are better equipped and more confident in your own decision making. You are the expert in your life, not me, so I am here to support you and guide you, not to tell you what to do.

I work integratively combining person-centred and psychodynamic counselling theory. This means that not only do we explore you’re here-and-now experiences and your way of being, but also look into your past experiences and patterns of behaviour, to explore how they may be affecting you in the present.

I understand that every person is different, so I work uniquely with each client, putting you at the centre of the counselling work. I offer in-person counselling from my office space in Cheltenham as well as online sessions to suit you.

If you feel we could be a good fit working together and are ready to take the step and get started on your counselling journey, then please do get in touch. You can contact me here or visit my website for more ways to get in touch.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am qualified and experienced in working with adults of all ages (18+). As a qualified integrative counsellor, I am a Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and hence adhere to their ethical framework, meaning that I work professionally, safely and confidentially.

Alongside developing my own private practice, I have been a counsellor working with The Listening Post Counselling Service since April 2023 where I have gained experience and worked with a diverse range of clients.

My Qualifications:

  • Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling (Gloucestershire College)
  • Certificate in Counselling Skills (Gloucestershire Counselling Service)
  • BA (Hon) English Literature (University of Gloucestershire)
  • Enhanced DBS

I also maintain my BACP registration by engaging in continual professional development (CPD) activities to help update and improve my practice.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Additional information

I charge a fee of £50 for a 50 minute counselling session. I do have some concessionary slots available for individuals on a low income though, if you would require a discounted fee then please let me know when you first get in touch with me and I can give you more information on my availability and reduced fees.

I also offer a free 15-20 minute phone consultation to new clients. This is a space for you to ask any questions you may have and share your reasons for seeking counselling and your goals. It is also an opportunity for you to hear about how I work and for me to determine whether I am able to work safely with you regarding the issues you plan to bring to your counselling. However, following the initial call, there is no obligation to start counselling if you do not want to.
