About me

Combining Cognitive Behavioural Therapy with tenets of Occupational Therapy and Compassion-Focussed Therapy for a holistic, individualised approach to suit your needs. My method is trauma-informed, neurodiversity-affirming and deeply-seated in compassion.

Specialising in working with young people and adults with eating disorders, phobias, body image difficulties and traumatic experiences, with wider experience of general anxiety, panic disorder, social anxiety, low mood and suicidality and harmful coping behaviours. I offer online, morning and evening appointments in a safe, confidential space.

My Approach:

CBT: My main therapeutic model is Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. This is an evidence-based treatment which focuses on identifying and changing thoughts, feelings and behaviours which we suspect might be keeping the problem going. CBT sessions will be very goal-focussed, often include between-session tasks, and involve regularly completing measures and keeping diaries.

Occupational Therapy: My core clinical training is in Occupational Therapy. Occupational Therapy supports individuals to reconnect with roles which hold meaning and value to their lives. Occupational Therapy informed sessions will be very practical, exploring problem-solving strategies and will be aimed at improving independence and building skills.

CFT: I have additional training in Compassion-Focussed Therapy. Compassion Focussed Therapy is particularly good for people who experience a high level of shame or self-criticism. It draws on insights from evolutionary psychology to help people build their capacity for kindness, warmth and emotional resilience. Compassion Focussed Therapy sessions will support you to regulate your emotions, challenge self-critical thoughts, use compassionate imagery, self-talk and mindfulness.

Training, qualifications & experience

Previous Training

With 10 years and counting of clinical experience within the NHS delivering individual psychological therapy across various clinics and hospital settings, I am now offering a small private practice to people interested in accessing online therapy to meet them where they’re at, right now.

I began my career as an Occupational Therapist and worked within the NHS in hospitals offering individual and group therapy supporting adults to reconnect with their valued roles. Since then I completed further, accredited training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and have supported both adolescents and adults to recover from a variety of low mood, anxiety, trauma and eating disorder difficulties.

Current Areas of Specialism

Having spent several years working as a CBT therapist within an NHS eating disorders service, I have a particular interest and specialism in eating disorders including: Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa, Other Specified Feeding or Eating Disorder (OSFED), ARFID, emetophobia, body image difficulties and working with traumatic experiences. Beyond this, I have experience working with low mood, general anxiety, self-harm and suicidality, social anxiety and phobias.

I am also grateful to be a current PHD candidate in further psychological training.

Additional information

To see if therapy is right for you, I offer a free introductory call for 15-30 mins, which can be either by Teams or telephone - whichever feels most comfortable for you. The call is an opportunity for us to have a brief chat about what you are hoping to get out of therapy and for you to ask any questions you might have. Just as importantly, it gives you a chance to get a feel for me and how I work, so you can decide whether it feels like a good fit before committing to any further sessions.
