My work with clients
I believe the work I do with clients is an "equal" relationship. I assist them to get to the place they want to go or find the right path for them.
My training and experience has equipped me with skills and techniques that help, but this does not make me the expert of their lives. I am there to assist my clients in getting what they need. I do not tell my clients what to do, this only adds to the "should and should nots" their environment has already given them, often installing guilt, shame or anxiety. What I do is, help them discover what feels right for them and work towards using this knowledge to feel better and make the changes they need.
I work with clients who are on the Autistic Spectrum, they may or may not have a diagnosis. I come to do this work through a dual lens of personal and professional views; my husband got a diagnosis of ASD in 2013, there was no help available for us as a couple or for him as an individual, it inspired me to do a research Masters Degree on how the therapist works with clients they perceive/are to be on the autistic spectrum. I now work with couples to help them build bridges in there relationship and understand each other more or with individuals who are facing life struggles as a result of ASD.
