About me

I specialise in helping couples, individuals and families deal with a range of relationship issues  in helping them move forward.  These may include failure to communicate, coping with the aftermath of betrayal, an affair or relationship  changes in  which have left you feeling lost.

How Counselling can help

I offer a range of talking therapies and I  provide  the support, time & space to explore your life and relationships to enable you to clarify your thoughts & feelings in order to make the necessary changes. I provide a comfortable, non-judgemental atmosphere underpinned and I work with a range of clients from different, faiths, cultures & sexual orientations.

What to expect in your first session

This is an assessment to determine if this is the right counselling for you.  It will include  taking background information, identifying  your difficulties and the changes that you would like to make.  This will inform our future work together.

I am happy to answer your questions about therapy and its suitability for you before you book a session. I see adults, children, couples, older people, whole families and have services to suit them all.

Training, qualifications & experience

I come from a nursing background having worked for over 20 years in the NHS where I gained experience in supporting parents and families through difficult and changing circumstances including  post- natal depression. I have been a relationship counsellor for 13 years and am experienced in working with a variety of issues which may impact on individuals, couples and family relationships at different stages of their lives.

Formal Qualifications

My formal qualifications include:

  • MA (Merit) Relationship Counselling University of Hull
  • BA (Hons) Education Nottingham Trent University
  • Diploma in Relationship Counselling York St. John University

I am RELATE trained, using a model based on the integration of two theoretical bases - i.e. systemic theory and psycho-dynamic ideas. In line with this I aim to develop a supportive, collaborative relationship using both of our experiences and skills to find a way forward through the thoughts and feelings that make up our close relationships, which fits with your way of life.
