About me
"Wherever you go, go with all your heart" is a quote taken from my website www.cleverconversations.org and along with my sense of humour probably sums up who I am. You may be reading this profile because you are worrying about something, have a situation you cant resolve, feel anxious or depressed or just want someone to listen to you. The profile I have written below is brief and if you want to know more about my practice to decide if we can work together please get in touch.
I have 31 years experience as a qualified counsellor working with young people, individuals, couples and groups. My counselling practice is based on a humanistic approach and I am able to integrate other approaches, including CBT, into my work according to the needs of each client.
I am available for short-term and long-term work, the number of sessions being determined at any point in the counselling by the client. Some clients enter counselling because they want to explore unresolved issues and others because they feel 'stuck' in their lives and have perhaps lost their motivation. It is possible for the counsellor and client to work creatively towards the desired outcome and the client will choose if this process is through oral or written form or a combination of both.
I work with individuals
Often clients seek more useful ways to communicate in general and in their relationship, and want to be more assertive, confident, decisive or to deal with their anger. The client is able to design their own package with the flexibility to change it as the work progresses.
I have 20 years experience of managing a nationally acclaimed project that works with adults involved in prostitution and with sexually exploited children and young people. Currently I am on the Board of Trustees of the National Working Group for Sexually Exploited and trafficked Children and Young People (NWG). For 6 years I was a lay member on a local safeguarding childrens board and a member of a number sub groups. I am a trainer/consultant and keynote speaker.
I supervise trainee and qualified counsellors and some of this work involves supervising counsellors that work in schools or other locations with young people. I also provide non-counselling supervision to Domestic Abuse Teams, Family Crisis Team, Rape and Sexual Abuse service, Young People’s Project and ISVA Service

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
