About me

Welcome, I'm so glad you're here and courageously searching for the support you need.

Life is a series of ups and downs and all of us have times when we need some support to navigate situations.

We can feel stuck and not know where to turn. Maybe relationships are a struggle or perhaps work and family pressures are difficult to manage. Do you find yourself going round a familiar pattern and having difficulty seeing how things might be different? Maybe life has dealt you blows which knocked your confidence or left you feeling alone, lonely and confused?

I understand that talking to a professional about what's bothering you ,takes courage. My aim is to offer a warm, respectful, confidential and supportive space . Together we can then explore what's worrying you, find new ways to manage ,and life can feel more fulfilling.

I am a qualified psychotherapeutic counsellor and have an honours degree in Integrative Relational Counselling.

These days my approach is much more experiential.

With individuals my main therapeutic orientation is AEDP (Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy) and with couples I lean into Emotionally Focussed Couple Therapy.

AEDP is a style of psychotherapy that draws on the latest findings in interpersonal neurobiology, somatic(body oriented) approaches, attachment theory, emotion theory and transformational studies. It's a relational and  experiential model so when we're working I will pay attention to how we are doing as a dyad and I will also bring our focus to what we notice in the 'now' even when we are talking about things that happened in the past.

I work with couples and individuals over the age of 18 who are experiencing a range of problems such as relationship issues, work issues, bereavement, loss of job and/or health, depression, anxiety, abortion, low self esteem and  developmental trauma, including childhood abuse.

Depending on your reasons for coming , we can work longer term or we can work for a focussed period, generally  16 sessions.

What Next?
Please contact me . I offer an initial 20 minute phone call at no charge .

After that, if you'd like to try an initial session we can make a plan. The Initial Consultation is charged but there is no further commitment, we can decide together whether we feel like its a good enough fit, and how we'd like to continue.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
