About me

You may know exactly what's bringing you to counselling, or perhaps you just know that something doesn't feel right.

I work with both individuals and couples. You may be experiencing anxiety, depression, stress, trauma, low self-esteem, abuse, or other mental health concerns. Or perhaps you're finding your relationship difficult, feeling disconnected from one another, struggling to communicate, or unsure why you keep ending up in the same painful patterns.

I offer a place where you can talk openly about what's been happening and have the chance to make sense of it. Together, we can explore what's going on and work towards positive change.

Individual Counselling

Life can sometimes feel overwhelming. You may be struggling with anxiety, depression, stress, low self-esteem, trauma, abuse, or other mental health difficulties. Equally, you may not be able to name exactly what's wrong – you just know you're struggling and want things to feel different

Here you can be yourself without judgement and begin to:

• Understand what's happening for you

• Develop effective coping strategies

• Feel more in control and empowered

My approach is person-centred and neurodiversity-affirming, meaning I tailor sessions to your unique needs, including if you have ADHD, autism, or other neurodivergence.

Couples Counselling

Relationships can be challenging, and sometimes it can be difficult to understand what is happening between you. You may find yourselves stuck in the same cycles of conflict and upset, struggling to communicate, working through a difficult period, or feeling that you have lost your connection.

I provide an open and compassionate environment to help you:

• Explore what's really happening beneath the surface

• Strengthen communication and understanding

• Rebuild trust and emotional closeness

• Learn healthier ways to resolve conflict

My Approach

I believe you are the expert in your own life, and my role is to support you with compassion and flexibility. Sessions can include talking, reflecting, or creative methods such as doodling or image cards – whatever helps you express yourself best. I also incorporate grounding techniques and CBT-informed exercises where appropriate.

I also have many years’ experience supporting people who have experienced sexual abuse and sexual violence. Whether these experiences happened in childhood or more recently, I understand how difficult it can be to reach out for support and offer a trauma-informed approach that works at a pace that feels right for you.

How to Get in Touch

If you would like to book an introductory call or simply ask a question, please get in touch. I offer a free initial phone consultation so we can discuss your needs and see whether I am the right fit for you.

I offer face-to-face sessions in Standish and Wigan, as well as online and telephone appointments.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
