About me

I am a systemic counsellor which focuses on how an individual's personal relationships, behaviour patterns and life choices are interconnected. I have 10 years of experience as a counsellor with those who have experienced Sexual Violence and Domestic Violence as a child and as an adult. I work in a trauma-informed way, and feel that relationship is key, so will provide a warm and supportive counselling space. I also help you understand the impact on your experiences, and find ways of healthier ways of coping.

I also offer EMDR which helps reduce the impact and symptoms caused by trauma.

I am currently working online, but am hoping to have a space in Abergavenny soon for face to face counselling.

I offer short and open-ended therapy.

Training, qualifications & experience

  • Bsc in Systemic Counselling - First Class Honours
  • EMDR Therapy with EDMR Academy
  • Pre Trial therapy trained with the Survivors trust.
  • Currently training in a Level 6 Diploma in Supervision

I started my counselling career with Torfaen and Blaenau Gwent Mind. I then worked for a Sexual Violence Counselling service within a local Womens Aid for 7 Years, I also managed this service. In the last 18 months I have been the counsellor and training facilitator, for Torfaen CBC Building Resilient Communities team, where I helped those having difficulty accessing their community, and giving training to those who work as volunteers in the community.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
