About me

I am currently offering face to face and online counselling sessions.
There are many times in our life where we face difficulties and feel we are not coping. I am a qualified and experienced BACP accredited counsellor offering a relaxed and confidential space to explore your concerns.

My experience is working with individuals of all ages, couples and families offering short and long term therapy.

The type of areas I frequently work with include anxiety, depression, relationship problems, separation and divorce, family conflict, bereavement, anger, bullying, abuse, self harm, low self-esteem and stress. Many people come to counselling without a label for what's troubling them, they may feel sad or feel that their life is not how they want it to be. Counselling can give you a chance to work through your thoughts, feelings and behaviours.

As well as my private practice, I currently work as a counsellor with individuals and couples for the mental health charity MIND and with young people in secondary schools. My work over the years has included a wide range of clients from diverse backgrounds.

Feeling comfortable with your choice of therapist is essential for effective counselling. For this reason I can offer a short introductory appointment, where we can discuss the counselling contract and what you wish to achieve from our sessions.

As an experienced BACP accredited counsellor I adhere to the Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have trained as an Integrative counsellor with further training in the Humanistic approach. My focus is on the therapeutic relationship with the client and to encourage self awareness and personal growth, while personalising therapy for each individual need.
In addition to my counselling training, I have completed a further two years to gain skills in working with couples and families.

Advanced Certificate in Counselling skills and Theory
L4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling
L5 Diploma in Counselling practice
AFT Accredited Foundation Course in Systemic Thinking and Practice
AFT Accredited Intermediate Training in Family and Systemic Practice

As an accredited practitioner I continue to attend training courses and workshops for my own professional development throughout the year.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
