About me
I am BACP Accredited counsellor. I have experience of working with adults, young people and couples. I am also a qualified clinical supervisor.
I recognise that there are times in life when we become unable to see ways through our difficulties. In my experience having a space to contemplate and reflect the possibilities truly enables us to make life changing choices.
I believe that counselling should be an empowering process, a place where we learn more about ourselves and the person we would like to become. Counselling helps us to learn new strategies to cope better with any future difficulties we may face.
Whatever is important to my clients is important to me. I work alongside you with whatever challenges you face and celebrate your successes.
The model that I have trained in is the Relational Approach. This combines the analytical aspect of the Psychodynamic Approach with the warmth of Person Centred therapy. I also consider other theories in my practice such as Transactional Analysis and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.
I have been a couple counsellor for over 15 years and fully understand how navigating relationships and intimacy is challenging. Nurturing relationships through life events is often an after thought, in therapy your relationship becomes a priority. As a dedicated couple counsellor I believe that every connection has the potential for growth and healing. The focus of relationship counselling is to strengthen your bond and find joy in your journey together.
I am developing my practice further and currently completing a Masters in Psychosexual therapy. Incorporating years of experience of working with couples it is essential to provide an environment where sexual issues can be explored and solutions developed. Psychosexual therapy supports you in gaining confidence in intimate relationships and develop deeper insights into who you feel you are in your sexual expression.
Life affects sexual function, such as, relationship difficulties, stress, illness, medication, menopause, pregnancy, finding it difficult to get pregnant, and many more reasons why you can become disheartened in sexual expression. Psychosexual therapy focuses on what the problems are and develop techniques and strategies to reconnect with your sexual self.
You will never be asked to complete any tasks during sessions. The therapy is a talking therapy with an agreed treatment plan to be completed at home between appointments.
Face to face counselling is delivered from my home office. It is a separate neutral room that offers a quiet calm space to reflect. Access to the building is via a step.
I am able to offer online therapy via video link. Online counselling can provide increased access to support through offering convenience. Face to face counselling may not work for you due to family responsibilities or limitations in time, for some the idea of talking through issues in the same room as another person can be too overwhelming. I have experience of using multiple applications. Providing your preferred application is end to end encrypted or has security measures to work confidentially, we can use a video app your are comfortable with.
Telephone Counselling is another alternative I offer when accessing therapy. This can offer a deeper sense of anonymity and privacy. Working from your own home may help you to feel more relaxed, confident and safe. It can help develop more open communication.
Both video and telephone counselling can increase access to therapeutic support to those suffering from physical illnesses, disability or other limitations.
Please contact me by email if you have any further questions about online or telephone counselling.

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
