About me

Welcome To Spiritwell Counselling.

Thank you for viewing my profile.

My name is Maddy and I am a fully qualified, therapeutic counsellor, offering both short and long term counselling to adults and young people.

I am based in Kirkby In Ashfield, Nottinghamshire and offer reasonably priced appointments either face to face, over the phone or via video chat.

I work in a humanistic, integrative and person centred way with my clients and I would also say that I work in a holistic and somewhat spiritual way with my clients too and I am passionate about helping and supporting people.

I am also passionate about the counselling profession and about ensuring that people who feel they need help and support can receive it, which is why I try to keep my fees as reasonable and as fair as possible.

The way I work with clients means that the client is at the heart of the therapy and the therapy is client led, this allows clients to focus on, talk through and explore how they are feeling in that moment, and my role is to support them in doing this and to gently challenge and explore with them where they are at, and how they are feeling.

I consider myself to be a guest in your world, sharing your experiences of your world and helping you to make sense of them.

The one constant in life - Is change!

Change can be great, it can attract, open up and create new opportunities and experiences for us and from this we can develop, change and grow in ourselves.

In some ways, change gives us an opportunity to discover ourselves.

However, change can also be daunting, challenging and exhausting at times, especially if it is unexpected and leads to feelings of being overwhelmed, anxious and out of control.

Life can take over sometimes, robbing us of time and energy and through this we tend to lose ourselves and neglect ourselves, our needs and our desires.

Counselling can help us to feel supported, to feel calmer and to understand ourselves, our thought processes and our behaviours more fully.

It can help us to rebalance, realign and to rediscover ourselves.

Perception is everything!

Change your perception and outlook and your whole world can change!

Counselling can help you to gain a healthier, more positive and much more powerful perception and understanding of your life.

Training, qualifications & experience

My counselling qualification is a Diploma in humanistic, integrative and person centred counselling.

I would also say that I work in a holistic and somewhat spiritual way with my clients.

I am a believer in energy, the law of attraction and am Reiki trained.

I also incorporate mindfulness and meditation tools and techniques into my practice.

I don’t believe in a one size fits all approach to therapy, I believe in diversity and I understand that we all have very different beliefs, backgrounds, personalities and lives.

I feel through offering empathic understanding to my clients I can work with my clients to establish which modalities, beliefs, tools and techniques work for them.

I work with clients who are experiencing many issues, some of which include anxiety, depression and low to moderate mental health issues, confidence, self-esteem and relational issues, self-harm, intrusive thoughts, self-criticism and identity issues.

I have also worked with clients who are survivors of abuse and I work with young people from the age of 11.

I offer my clients a friendly, authentic, supportive, compassionate and confidential space from which we can work together to overcome obstacles, trauma, challenges and fears and shape your life how you would like it to be.

  • I have a diploma in Therapeutic Counselling, along with several certificates in counselling studies, skills, mental health and dissociation.
  • I also have a certificate in Mediation.
  • I am a member of the BACP British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists.
  • I have an enhanced DBS check and I continually develop myself both personally and professionally.

Member organisations

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
