About me

Hello. Thank you for stopping to consider my service. I imagine you've got to this stage because there's something troubling you that you would like help with. I know that it can be tricky to choose a counsellor, so I'd be happy to have a no-obligation, confidential telephone call with you so that you can decide whether I will be a good fit to support you as you work through the challenge you're facing at the moment. Just click the 'Book intro call' button above to book a call with me directly or you can email, call or text me to arrange one.

Clients come to me with a variety of issues and often I hear that they have been putting off seeking support as there are "other people out there dealing with far worse challenges than me". I would like to invite you not to minimise your feelings and to consider allowing yourself to be supported through whatever is causing you pain right now so that you can deepen your self-understanding and live a life that is happier and more fulfilling.

I imagine that you might also like to know a little more about me. After about 25 years of working in human resources and executive support, I started a process of change. Giving back had always been important to me and I felt ready to explore how I could do that, so I began a degree in integrative counselling.

I feel privileged to be able to support clients as they work to heal emotional and psychological wounds. I work with clients online, in-person or by phone in a warm, welcoming and non-judgemental way. I love my work and continue to be amazed at the transformative power that a safe space offers clients – a space where clients can get to know and value themselves more and deepen their understanding of how to care for themselves and improve their relationships.

My approach to therapy is person-centred. I believe that we are always becoming and that when we are understood, heard and valued we are able to develop and grow. As an integrative practitioner, I am able to draw on a variety of therapeutic approaches to best support my clients' needs.

I am a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).

The service I offer

I offer short term counselling and also open ended, longer term therapy online, in-person or by phone. I strive to create a safe and confidential space for my clients where you can explore your thoughts and feelings more deeply.

Short term counselling

Short term counselling typically suits clients who want support to work on a specific challenge or achieve a particular goal. In this instance, we would agree to work together for a defined period of time - either 6, 8 or 10 weeks -  towards a specific goal that we would agree on during our first session. Sessions would take place weekly and we would also agree regular review points to assess how you feel about your sessions and your progress towards your goals.

Open ended therapy

Open ended therapy is longer term and means our work together continues for as long as you feel you want to. We would still have regular reviews to check-in on how you feel about your sessions and how our work together is meeting your needs. We would agree either on weekly or fortnightly sessions, depending on your needs.

Interested? What to do next

If you've never had therapy before, all this information might feel a bit abstract so please feel welcome to arrange a confidential call with me to find out more about what you can expect from therapy so that you can then decide whether it is right for you.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

I offer a free confidential 20-30 minute no-obligation telephone call during which we can get to know each other a little and decide whether we would be able to work together.  You'd be free to ask questions and I would also want to understand more about why you are seeking counselling. If you decide to go ahead with counselling, we will agree a suitable date and time for weekly or fortnightly sessions. You would need to allow 50-60 minutes for each session.

You can book an initial confidential telephone call by clicking the 'Book intro call' button at the top of this page or by emailing, calling or texting me to arrange one.
