About me

Hi, I'm Lydia, a qualified integrative counsellor offering online/telephone therapy.

With over 12 years of experience working with clients from a variety of backgrounds and different needs, I am able to provide a safe, warm and non judgmental space for you to be yourself.

I bring a combined approach to our sessions with the thought that there is no single approach which works best - every client and situation is different. You will find our time together to be supportive, safe, objective and most of all rewarding.

During our first session, we will talk about what has brought you to counselling and what you like to achieve in our time together; this I believe, brings focus to the sessions. We can work through the situations or challenges you are facing, allowing you to explore your feelings, thoughts and emotions.

We all face challenges and need someone to support as we go through these difficult times. We may need this for a short time, or perhaps sometimes a little longer. So if you have any questions about me or how I work, please get in touch.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a qualified integrative counsellor and a member of the British Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy working within their ethical framework.

I run a successful private counselling practice and it is a privilege for clients to take on with them on their journey of healing and growth. I also started and ran a lone parent group for several years which led me to the world of counselling which opened up opportunities for me to work with other faith groups as well as charitable organisations.

I have also gained a wide range of experience working in Social Housing for several years across diverse boroughs in London.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Supervision is an important part of our work as therapists; I believe it is paramount to have a Supervisior that you connect with and feel able to share your work, thoughts, attitudes and general approach you have with a client.
