About me
Hello, my name is Lucy. I specialise in working with Autistic or ADHD adults and I can provide you with a friendly, supportive and highly experienced psychotherapeutic counselling service.
I have been providing mental health support for over 15 years and established my own counselling support service in 2015. I have successfully helped many people with social anxiety, depression, neurodiversity, stress, general anxiety, loss, loneliness, social isolation, low self esteem, anger, relationship problems, gender dysphoria and other similar issues.
I have a particular interest in working with adults who struggle with low self esteem and/or social anxiety or who identify as neurodivergent. This is something I have lived experience of. I aim to provide a neuro-affirming environment for our work together :)
If you are diagnosed, self diagnosed or identify as neurodivergent its important to validate that this is part of your identity and to celebrate your strengths whilst working to overcome things that are challenging. Standard CBT techniques may not be hugely helpful as they are based on identifying and changing thought patterns. A neurological processing difference may mean that those thought patterns are an awesome part of you who you are.... we just need to make them work for you rather than against you! I can help you with that :)
I wholeheartedly welcome anyone from the LGBTQI+ community and aim to provide a gender-affirming environment.
Successful therapy can be achieved in a way that suits your needs. I can provide short term, solution focused counselling, or if you prefer, I can provide medium to long term psychotherapeutic support.
Here are some reviews that may help you get more of a feel for how I can help you:
“I came to Lucy after feeling a tangled mess of emotions, low mood, stress and anxiety. I couldn’t understand why I was feeling the way I was and knew that I needed help but didn’t know how to ask for it. Lucy has helped me understand the help I needed and how to unravel my emotions and deal with them accordingly, she is a wonderful person with a caring nature and is very professional and easy to talk with. I would highly recommend Lucy.”
"I had a traumatic childhood which I bottled up for years and which has impacted on my personal relationships. Having reached boiling point I knew it was time to seek help. I could not have chosen a better person to have told my story to. I now feel that the book is closed on those dark days and a new chapter has begun. Lucy has been very professional in every aspect of dealing with my scarred past and I have no reservations in recommending her services”

Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
Areas of counselling I deal with
Other areas of counselling I deal with
When working with neurodivergent individuals, I recognise that traditional counseling methods need to be adapted to include some more pragmatic help, support and advise which results in a therapeutic coaching hybrid.
generally, I work using the pluralistic approach which recognises that there are many reasons why we seek therapy and many different ways to help a problem. Taking this into account increases the potential to make positive and welcome change.
I keep the foundations of my therapeutic work within the Person Centred approach and I am by nature a very analytical thinker. These elements combine and naturally influence the way I work.
