About me

Hi, I'm Lucy, a psychotherapist and counsellor based in Farnham, Surrey offering long and short-term counselling to individuals, couples and groups. I offer a safe, caring, inclusive and non-judgmental space where together we can explore the challenges you face.

I am passionate about helping people empower themselves to make the changes they wish through deeper understanding and awareness. I have experience and specialise in a wide range of issues including, anxiety, depression, overwhelm, work related stress, burnout, trauma, bereavement and grief. I also specialise in neurodivergence and am passionate about supporting neurodivergent adults and parents of neurodivergent children. In addition, I have extensive experience supporting women with issues such as mothering, relationships and menopause through different life stages. If you are suffering with any of these, I can help you.

My Approach

I am an integrative relational practitioner specialising in Transactional Analysis bringing together the different aspects of my training and experience to find the best way of working with each individual. The therapy I facilitate is through a collaborative process providing a safe space to explore and process thoughts, feelings, and behaviours to help you achieve your goals.

Transactional Analysis works from the premise that people can change, however deep-rooted their difficulties. It can be used to help you manage your problems by understanding and changing your thinking and behaviour. It can also help in exploring and changing deeper and sometimes unconscious psychological processes to better understand behaviour and feelings to resolve any difficulties.

Together we create a process and environment that works for you. My aim is to understand you and your needs, and work with you in a way that feels safe, supportive and appropriately challenging to help you make the changes that you want to make in your life.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have clinical experience working for charities and in private practice with adults (18+) individually, in couples and in groups. I bring to my therapy practice my previous experience and professionalism as a Chartered surveyor working in companies, organisations, and consultancy, managing teams, and mentoring individuals.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

UKCP
UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP)

The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.

As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.

UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
