About me

Hi, I'm Lucille. I understand that finding the right therapist can be a daunting task so I will keep this brief! I am a Humanistic relational counsellor working in central Brighton and online. As a Humanistic therapist I integrate three modalities into my practice: Transactional Analysis, Person-Centred and Gestalt therapy. This means I am flexible in the way that I work and together we can find a style of therapy that works best for you.

What all three modalities have in common is their belief in equality between client and therapist and the importance of the therapeutic relationship. In other words, you are the expert on you! I will always ensure that there is opportunity for us to discuss how the therapy is going and whether there might be new ways of working that you'd like to explore.

Above all, I believe in the inherent ability of every person to heal, however difficult that might feel for you right now. Working together, I will be there alongside you and aim to create a space that allows you to feel safe enough to be able to explore your thoughts, feelings and experiences at greater depth. You may be wondering what I mean by 'healing journey' and while that might look different for everyone, often therapeutic work sees a change in self-awareness, self-compassion and a deeper understanding of the important relationships in our lives.

Alongside my practice I have several years of experience running psychoeducational support groups for the Brighton & Hove Wellbeing Service and working in postnatal maternal mental health. As an inclusive practitioner, I welcome working with difference and regularly attend training to ensure that my practice is anti-oppressive, anti-racist and LGBTQIA+ affirmative.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have a Post graduate Diploma in Humanistic Psychotherapeutic Counselling - Metanoia Institute and am a registered member of the BACP and adhere to their ethical framework.

As a counsellor and groupworker I have worked extensively in post partum mental health and in supporting parents of older children with mental health issues. Most recently I have worked as a counsellor with survivors of domestic abuse at RISE.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
