About me
Hello, my name is Loukas. I am a counselling psychologist, registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
I have a very strong academic background, first graduating with a BSc in Psychology from one of the most reputable academic institutions in the UK (and worldwide), the University of Exeter. I then completed a professional doctorate in Counselling psychology from Glasgow Caledonian University. I completed the majority of my training in the NHS and specialised in working with complex, long-standing difficulties, in addition to more mild to moderate issues.
Following my graduation, I was employed by the NHS and since been part of a team that specialises in helping adults with chronic and complex difficulties or with multiple problems at once.
As a Counselling Psychologist I am trained to doctoral level to deliver evidence-based therapy from a variety of therapeutic models, such as Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness, Compassion-Focused, Schema-informed therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Person-centred. This allows me to tailor therapy to your individual needs, goals and preferences.
At the moment, due to the pandemic situation, I can only offer phone consultations or online via Zoom. Please message me to book an appointment or for any inquiries.
Training, qualifications & experience
- Professional Doctorate in Counselling Psychology (DPsych), Glasgow Caledonian University (3 Years clinical training)
- Bachelor of Science (BSc Honours) in Psychology, University of Exeter
These are the qualifications I am required to have to be able to practice as a Counselling Psychologist. However, since my graduation, and as part of my role in the NHS, I have completed several other training courses in particular therapies, difficulties and approaches.

Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
The HCPC are an independent, UK-wide health regulator. They set standards of professional training, performance and conduct for 16 professions.
They keep a register of health professionals who meet their standards, and they take action if registered health professionals fall below those standards. They were created by a piece of legislation called the Health Professions Order 2001.
Registration means that a health professional meets national standards for their professional training, performance and conduct.
