About me

Hello, I understand that looking through counselling profiles can be an overwhelming experience, so I appreciate you taking the time to have a look through mine.

I’m an integrative humanistic Counsellor based in North Devon, I work with people who have experience of depression, anxiety, trauma, domestic abuse and dementia.

If you are searching for a Counsellor, it may mean that life has become overwhelming, you may feel stuck, or perhaps your emotions are weighing you down and having an impact on your daily life. It can feel like a lonely place to be, hoping each day may become easier or a little brighter but the feeling never lifting.

I believe sharing and talking about your experiences in a safe, calm, confidential and non-judgemental space can help ease those feelings and lighten the emotional load, and this is something I am able to offer in a therapeutic setting.

Training, qualifications & experience

Diploma (Level 4) Integrative Humanistic Counselling

BSc Hons Social Work Degree

I have 18 years experience in Social Care and the NHS in secondary mental health services with adults in the community, hospital and hospice settings. The experience of working with people from all backgrounds who have faced different challenges due to their personal circumstances has given me a foundation for my counselling practice.

I have experience of supporting people in their homes and within care facilities. I have provided support for family members who become their loved one’s carers.

Due to my experience, I can hold space for people who are experiencing the symptoms of dementia or other diagnosis and for their loved ones too. If you feel you or your loved one need someone to talk to about the challenges please do make contact, I would be happy to provide a listening ear.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
