About me

Are you struggling to cope with difficult feelings or circumstances? Are you feeling stuck and unable to find a way through? Have things been building up and is it now time to seek support? If so, I can help by providing a private, safe place in which to talk about the things that are troubling you.

When things are difficult, many people find themselves unwilling or unable to talk to family, friends or colleagues and this is when talking to a therapist can really help. I offer 1-1 sessions in Oxted, London Victoria and online and have supported many people who have been struggling with the following types of difficulties:

  • anxiety
  • low self confidence or self esteem
  • childhood difficulties
  • depression
  • stress
  • unwanted patterns of behaviour
  • relationship difficulties
  • struggling to cope after separation or divorce
  • managing life transitions such as menopause or retirement

In our sessions I will listen closely to what is going on for you. I will help you to make sense of your emotions, understand the roots of your difficulties and develop greater understanding of your thoughts, feelings and behaviours. Understanding yourself better will in turn strengthen your ability to cope, enable you to find your own answers and move towards positive change.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have an MA in Integrative Psychotherapy and Counselling from Middlesex University, having trained at the Minster Centre in London.

‘Integrative’ means that my training included a number of different therapeutic approaches, (e.g. psychodynamic, person-centred, relational, gestalt, body psychotherapy). When working with you I will draw upon the most appropriate approach or approaches according to your individual needs and preferences.

Before training and practicing as a therapist, I worked for more than 12 years in marketing and business development in the property and professional services industries. I therefore understand some of the stresses and strains of corporate life and the difficulties that may arise in trying to balance work with other important aspects of your life.

Prior to setting up my private practice in 2017, I was a counsellor at the University of Roehampton and the Wimbledon Guild for three years. I have also worked as a telephone adviceline counsellor for CiC, the Employee Assistance Provider.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

UKCP
UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP)

The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.

As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.

UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
