About me
I am an accomplished and experienced psychotherapist, having worked in the addiction and related field since 2004. I have worked with a wonderful variety of clients during this time, in both the private sector and criminal justice settings.
I have extensive knowledge of addiction, alcoholism, trauma,, codependency, love addiction, and eating disorders.
I am a compassionate, understanding, and reflective therapist. I adopt a calm and positive outlook upon life, and this reflects itself in providing a safe and non-judgemental connection with my clients. I also possess a well-developed sense of humour, which I believe is an essential ingredient in any therapeutic alliance.
I believe we possess the answers within ourselves. I will help you to explore unhelpful patterns of thinking or behaviour, and support you as you make the changes needed to bring about a life you did not know was possible.
Training, qualifications & experience
I hold a Masters Degree in Addiction Psychology and Counselling.
I have trained with Pia Mellody in Arizona (author of Facing Codependence, Facing Love Addiction), and have co-facilitated Trauma Reduction programmes (PIT) in London. I am a qualified EFT Practitioner (Emotional Freedom Technique also known as 'Tapping'), and an Eating Disorder Practitioner, having trained with Deanne Jade at NCED. I have also completed EMDR training. I am particularly passionate about Addiction and Trauma, so I continue to train in these areas. I recently completed further Trauma training with Lou Lebentz, 'The Voyage - Light Dive' (3 months), and will be commencing further intensive 1 year long trauma training 'The Voyage - Deep Dive' with Lou, commencing in October 2024.
I work with either individuals or family members on a one-to-one basis. I have experience co-facilitating Family programmes, and have experience as a live-in Case Manager and Sober Companion. My experience has been gained in both the private and public sectors.
I am currently working remotely, and offer sessions via zoom. Geographically I am based in London.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
