About me
Hello, I'm Liz. I'm a qualified counsellor based in Bristol, working with adults and young people.
I understand how daunting it can feel to take the first step into counselling and have compassion for anyone starting out on that journey. My aim is to create a supportive, safe space where you can explore your thoughts and feelings at your own pace. I hope to help you feel comfortable enough to share your feelings, ensuring you’ll be met with kindness and understanding and without judgement.
My approach is gentle, empathetic, and person-centred, meaning I listen to your experiences as unique and valuable, see the world from your perspective, and tailor our sessions to your individual goals and needs. I believe counselling can be a deeply transformative process when nurtured in the right environment.
While my foundation is in person-centred therapy, I also draw on other approaches, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and solution-focused techniques, when they may be helpful or are requested by clients.
I’m there to be alongside you, offering support and encouragement as you move toward meaningful change.
I have previously worked with clients experiencing -
- Anxiety
- Depressions
- Suicidal ideation
- Self harm
- ADHD
- Substance misuse
- Exam stress
- Family / relationship issues
- Grief
- Low self-esteem
- Trauma
- School avoidance
I offer a free preliminary 15-minute telephone conversation where we can talk about what your therapy goals are, what I can offer and if that would be a good fit for you.
Training, qualifications & experience
I am a qualified counsellor with a Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling and a Level 5 Advanced Diploma in Counselling Children and Young People. I have extensive experience working with both adults and young people aged 11 and above, offering compassionate, client-centred support tailored to individual needs.
My aim through counselling is to support you in exploring any thoughts, feelings, and experiences, so you can better understand yourself and begin to feel more comfortable with who you are. I believe you are the expert of your own life, and my role is to support you in finding your own answers at your own pace.
I currently work part-time as a counsellor in a secondary school, where I support young people as they navigate a range of emotional, social, and developmental challenges. I draw on a relational and humanistic approach, always aiming to meet each student where they are. I often use creative tools like art and games in my work with young people, as they can make it easier for them to express thoughts and feelings that might be hard to put into words. These approaches help build trust, encourage self-expression, and make the therapeutic process feel more accessible and engaging. Creating a space that feels safe, supportive, and suited to their stage of development is at the heart of my work.
I am a full member of the BACP and adhere to their ethical framework. I undergo regular clinical supervision to ensure I work ethically and professionally at all times.
I have an enhanced DBS Certificate.

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
