About me

Hi, my name is Lisa. I am a qualified counsellor with over 10 years’ experience in working with, and supporting, clients of all ages and backgrounds.

I have worked with a wide range of issues including, but not limited to: anxiety, depression, relationship issues, anger, chronic childhood abuse, historical sexual abuse, identity/sexual orientation, profound sadness and despair, frustration, stress at work, , bullying, low self-esteem/ confidence issues, menopause, mis-carriage, relationship issues and serious health conditions. I also have a vast amount of experience working with those experiencing domestic violence and bereavement.

I am a person-centred therapist, who works in an integrative way. This means that I will welcome and support you with no judgement, no matter what you bring to our sessions. I believe that every person is an individual and that one type of therapy doesn’t suit everyone. Therefore, I offer a be-spoke counselling service meaning I use different types of therapy which is tailored to suit your needs.

I will offer a safe therapeutic space for you to explore, reflect, and gain insight and understanding into either past or current situations that are having an impact on you at present.

Counselling can be a life changing experience; it can take you on a journey of self-discovery and personal growth. The ultimate aim of counselling is to enable you to feel more equipped to accept the choices you make, feel able to own your decisions and generally feel that you are managing your life in a more effective and happy manner.

I am offering to be at your side throughout this journey, not to offer advice or tell you what to do, but to support and offer guidance in the hope that you will feel empowered to move forward with life in a positive way.

Member organisations

BACP

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.

Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.

All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
