About me

Hi, my name is Lisa. I am a qualified counsellor with over 10 years’ experience working with and supporting clients of all ages and backgrounds.

I have worked with a wide range of issues including, but not limited to anxiety, depression, relationship issues, anger, chronic childhood abuse, historical sexual abuse, identity/sexual orientation, profound sadness and despair, frustration, stress at work, bullying, low self-esteem/ confidence issues, menopause, miscarriage, relationship issues and serious health conditions. I also have a vast amount of experience working with those experiencing domestic violence and bereavement.

I am a person-centred therapist, who works in an integrative way. This means that I will welcome and support you with no judgement, no matter what you bring to our sessions. I believe that every person is an individual and that one type of therapy doesn’t suit everyone. Therefore, I offer a bespoke counselling service meaning I use different types of therapy which are tailored to suit your needs.

I will offer a safe therapeutic space for you to explore, reflect, and gain insight and understanding into either past or current situations that are having an impact on you at present.

Counselling can be a life-changing experience, taking you on a journey of self-discovery and personal growth. The ultimate aim of counselling is to enable you to feel more equipped to accept the choices you make, own your decisions and generally feel that you are managing your life more effectively and happily.

I am offering to be at your side throughout this journey, not to offer advice or tell you what to do, but to support and offer guidance in the hope that you will feel empowered to move forward with life in a positive way.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
