About me

Hi, I'm Lisa. A qualified Integrative Counsellor and Psychotherapist (PGDip). I am a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), which means that I work in line with their ethical framework to ensure that your wellbeing and safety are upheld at all times.

I appreciate that starting your therapeutic journey is not easy; however, I strive to create a safe space that is confidential and professional but also comfortable, compassionate, and empowering to facilitate your journey to improved well-being, mental health, and quality of life.

What is integrative psychotherapy?

Nobody can truly share your exact story or experience, as we are all uniquely individual. Integrative psychotherapy recognises this and tailors support specifically to your history, experiences, and current needs. It is flexible, holistic, and can be used to treat a range of both short- and long-term issues.

Integrative psychotherapy combines multiple therapeutic approaches into a distinct approach. My practice integrates Person-centred Approach, Attachment Theory and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). This means that...

  • It is understood that you are an expert on yourself.
  • You will be accepted and valued unconditionally as you work towards reaching your full potential.
  • You will be supported in understanding and expressing emotions, as well as developing and rebuilding trust.
  • Early life experiences will be a key to understanding what is happening in the here and now.
  • Thoughts, feelings, and behaviours will be assessed, and if they are found to be unhelpful, we will work collaboratively towards change in order for you to have a better quality of life.

Free 15-minute consultation

If you are unsure about whether therapy is for you, you can book a free 15-minute consultation through the link at the top of my page. Carried out either on the telephone, via video link, or face-to-face in the clinic, this consultation will help us understand what it is that you would like to gain from therapy and give you the chance to ask any questions. It is also an opportunity for you to get a feel for whether you feel that therapy with myself is right for you. If it isn't, then we have a team of therapists working from all different types of modalities, and hopefully, if I'm not the right fit, someone else will be. If you can't find suitable availability through the link, please don't hesitate to get in touch. I put a limited amount of availability up and may be able to offer you an alternative time.

Assessment session

If you know that you would like to start sessions, then you can book an assessment session. These can also be done on the phone, via video link, or in person at the clinic. This is a 50-minute session where we can get an understanding of your main difficulties and establish the best treatment options for you. The assessment sessions can also be booked through the link at the top of my page. Again, if you can't find suitable availability, please get in touch, as I have limited availability on the booking system and may be able to accommodate you.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have a Post Graduate Diploma (Distinction) in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP Accredited) and am completing my last year of my Masters, where I am researching the experiences of adult children of alcoholics.

My desire to become a psychotherapist was born out of my work as a youth mentor and restorative domestic abuse practitioner at Derbyshire Victim Services, where I worked with people of all ages to help them cope and recover from their experiences. I have professional experience working in a variety of settings, including educational settings, charities, and private practice. I am currently self-employed as an affiliate at The Therapy and Lifestyle Clinic and volunteer for Ashgate Hospice.

Member organisations

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
